Hiya folks. John here, a new iPAQ owner from the US in search of some assistance. I turned to HP for help, but since the software warranty on the iPAQ is expired, the technician wasn't able to assist me. He did, however, direct me to GeekZone.

I bought my iPAQ used off of eBay from a reputable seller. The iPAQ works great except for the Bluetooth functionality.

The iPAQ is the H4150 mdoel running Windows 2003 for the Pocket PC. My computer is the HP Pavilion ZX5180US Notebook PC.

I have Bluetooth enabled on the iPAQ, and the Bluetooth software is installed on the laptop. In my taskbar, I see the Bluetooth icon but the logo is red instead of white, and when I right-click on it, it says "No Device Found". Like I said, the iPAQ is powered on and Bluetooth is enabled on it (blue light blinking at the top). The iPAQ is also sitting directly to the right of the laptop (very close to each other).

The laptop is the only Bluetooth device I have, so I'm unable to test it with anything else.

Can anyone offer any assistance? The synch cable works fine, but I'd be eternally grateful if I could get the Bluetooth working.

Welcome to Geekzone... I couldn't find any information confirming that the ZX51180US is actually Bluetooth enabled. I guess you are using an external Bluetooth USB on this notebook?

No, to my knowledge it has built-in Bluetooth. This is what HP Support told me over the phone. My model is the ZX5180US.

There are three possibilities here then: the built-in Bluetooth device is disabled (check the device manager), the hardware is faulty and needs repair, or a newer incompatible Bluetooth software was installed on the laptop.

I'm looking in Device Manager and I don't see anything for Bluetooth. I'm on the phone with someone from HP right now trying to find out what's going on. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again.
