I'm thinking of picking up an unlocked HTC Touch overseas and using it on Vodafone prepaid back here, does anyone know if it will work on prepaid?

And a few questions about the device; Is it possible to restrict apps to only be able to access the Internet using the Wi-Fi connection (if I get it connected using prepaid I don't want my credit accidently being used for Internet)? What is the battery life when using Wi-Fi? And, what is the max size miniSD card it can take?

Hi there, I have been using my HTC Touch Pro for about 6 months now on Vodafone Prepay. As for WiFi restrictions it will depend on the app, many do have settings to dictate how they connect. As for battery life on WiFi I get about 6 hours but I kep a spare battery on charge.As far asI know a 16GB MiniSD is the max and that is what I have. There is a good utility to install that can disable the Data connections to Vodafone using a utility called NoData by Modaco http://www.modaco.com/content/pocket-pc-software/246171/new-free-utility-nodata/

Thanks Frank that answered everything I wanted to know. The Touch is a little dated now but I haven't found another Windows Mobile phone with better size/specs and price so I'm pretty sure I'll go with it.

I'm currently trying to justify getting myself an HTC Touch HD. Is there much advantage in importing from overseas? By the time currencies had been exchanged, the couple of overseas sites I looked at were equally (or more) expensive than if I just bought from a NZ store.

That surprised me. Is it just the effect of our currently pretty average exchange rate, or was I just looking at the wrong stores?

thought I would add that if you have a htc touch pro then you can get the gps working for free using the open source maps that you can find here http://gwprojects.org/forum/ ....really adds another dimension to this device as I use it all the time in the car now.
