seriously thinking baout switching to blackberry

could someone tell me are there devices that will..
operate on either of the networks
also, what operating system is blackberry ,is it reclothed windows?

i need a device that will operate on both networks and wireless

cheers for your input

oh.. i would prefer unit that runs on the upcoming new telecom netwrok

The bold will certainly work on both networks, has wireless and GPS. Just got me a TMobile pearl for my wife (who didn't like it due to no support for prepay so she sticking to her winmo), and played with it on Sunday, it seems that it is a Java based OS.

I will get the 8110 for myself hopefully tomorrow with courier. Blackberry rocks.

whats the software like on the blackberry. is it a hybrid derived ex windows or totally different/

what is the browser? is the blackberry capable of accessing as much of the html web sites as windows mobile 6 internet explorer?

yeah the blackberry seems to have a real good rep..even the prez has one

Just remember you would need to subscribe to both the Telcom and Vodafone BlackBerry plans at the same time if you wanted to use the device on both networks at the same time.

Here is a good review on it. I have managed to get the on line without BIS with a couple of tricks. Since I am a good customer I have subscribed to BIS tho!

hi ya, yes was thinking of telecom mobile broadband mostly as there is very little selection with regard to pdas with telecom at the moment...soooo was looking at vodafone pda phones that would be compatableto new telecom network when it starts up..thing is do i wait 3-4 months for telecom to release new phones when i need pda phone now?

hence looking at dual network phones

so, the plan is, would be vodafone between now and new network start up then telecom mobile broadband there after with vodafone possibly on prepay back up

No it won't work. You need a WCDMA/HSDPA 850/2100 MHz for Telecom and WCDMA/HSDPA 900/2100 MHz for Vodafone.

Telecom WCDMA/HSDPA 2100MHz will be just a filler. Their main network is based on WCDMA/HSDPA 850MHZ. If you get a WCDMA 2100MHz device it may not have coverage everywhere.

People need to understand that Telecom is not introducing a GSM network. GSM is not what Telecom is doing. Telecom is working on something that's newer than GSM and Vodafone is also increasing their non-GSM footprint.

GSM is not the same as WCDMA/HSDPA.

hey thanks for that..best wait for the telecom release i guess, just pain in but not having pda phone at moment since my titan was run over by a car!!!
