freitasm: Applications are compatible. The new home screen is not compatible with Today plugins, but you can always revert to using Today screen - if you really want it...
But I think you will like the new home screen.
The menu structure allows you to scroll up and down, and you can move cells up or down. Note that this new home screen is for Windwos Phones running Windows Mobile Professional and Standard only - Windows Mobile Standard is already using its own new home screen.
Note that Windows Phone is the new name for the products. The OS is still Windows Mobile.
