I just got my harrier today, installed ActiveSync, but when it asked me to plug the cradle into the USB port, it crashed my entire PC! I've rebooted many times, and as soon as I plug in the device, the "Found New Hardware - USB Device" box pops up, ActiveSync doesn't automatically detect it, and my whole PC stops working! This is really bizarre because I look after my machine and it NEVER crashes this bad... please help!?

This could be either a USB adapter/board on your computer, or a short-circuited cradle.

Are you able to test this cradle with another computer?

Sure you're inserting it correctly? I.e have the cradle unplugged from the comp, but powere, put the PDA in, then connect the USB cable to the computer?

Also, first install ActiveSync, and perhaps even reboot, then connect the cradle.

And make sure it's connected directly to your PC, not to a USB HUB. These things don't like USB HUBs, even the powered ones.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm gonna test the cradle on my desktop and report back, but for now the problem seems to have gotten worse. As stupid as this sounds, it's almost like the application has given me some kind of virus. And if it's not a virus, my notebook's exhibiting very virus-like characteristics - about 30 seconds after booting up, nothing works. I can't open applications, I can't open windows, I can't even shut the damn thing down! And I know applications don't *give* you viruses, but I swear my computer was fine til I put in that damned Pocked PC CD..

I've managed to open Firefox within the first 30 seconds to write this, and to get down on my knees and beg for some help.. I've run Nortons, Spybot, etc., all to no avail, and I've managed to uninstall Activesync, even tried installing version 3.8 - that froze during installation too! What a mess!!

All suggestions welcome :)
