I'm trying to send contacts on my ipaq 2215 over to my motorola v551 via bluetooth. The 2 devices seem to pair correctly. I can send files from the ipaq and can browse other folders on the v551. I can even send a contact from my v551 to the ipaq, that seems to work fine.

What does not work is sending a contact from my ipaq to the v551. In the contacts apps I highlight the contact I want to send. Bring up the menu and say 'send via Bluetooth'. In the device list I see my v551 phone, select it, then hit the little sync button at the bottom of the screen. The little bluetooth icon spins and spins ... and then nothing happens. I check my phone and no new contacts in the address book.

On the phone I've even tried to put the phone into 'Ask' mode, normally its in 'Automatic' mode. This simply means the bluetooth will ask if its OK to receive a connection.

Anyway, does anyone have an idea what is happening? Why can I send a contact from the v551 to the ipaq, but I can't do the reverse?

Have you installed any of the ROM or Bluetooth updates available on the HP iPAQ h2215 page?

I had installed the ROM update a few months back. I just installed the Bluetooth security update ... and guess what, now I can't pair the ipaq and v551 at all!!! This sucks, at least I had some connectionictivity.

Here is what is happening. On the ipaq I installed the security update. Then I rebooted both the ipaq and v551. On the ipaq I erased all old connections to the v551 and started over. When I try to establish a pair the ipaq is asking me to enter a numbers-only security code. I do that and it then says wait until the phone also asks me for the security code. Well, the phone never asks and the ipaq bluetooth manager is then stuck there just waiting and waiting, never to return.

I've also tried to to use bluetooth connections than 'phone', such as 'Explore a Bluetooth device' and then I get stuck at the 'Retrieving services' screen.

Please help!!!

Argh... This is bad. What if you start the pairing from the phone?

The only options I have on my phone are 'Find Me', turning on and off the bluetooth, setting the bluetooth name, paring with a headset. I don't think there is a way to browse or transfer files using the phone as a 'master'.

Is there any way I can back out the bluetooth security software I installed on the ipaq?

OK, my BT is back working. I installed yet another update to the ipaq and we are now back to my original problem of not being able to send contacts from the ipaq to the v551. Its still stuck at the 'select a bluetooth device' page when I'm try to send a contact.
