call telecom, ask them to disconnect your number from the esn, wait 5 minutes and put your number back on the esn.

see how that goes

How did you get on?? I'd be interested to know... as I'm considering updating my Okta Touch to WM6.5

I am a little nervous as last time I upgraded it (using the Official Telecom WM6.1 upgrade) I ended up without phone/txt...

Apparently this is because I have a hardware version 0001 unit... the 0002 units seem to be OK.

In the end, Telecom had to switch it to a dummy ESN, then switch it back to unit's ESN to get it working again. Thank god for Managed Customer Support :P

no luck with the esn resetting, although i was running NSFFAN's 6.5 ..so i'll flash the telecom 6.1 and try with them again tomorrow.

the odd thing is i have another okta 6.1 here running that rom just sweet as anything, gps, data, phone, txts, not an issue.

shrug.

in that thread i linked to ..steve98 says:

------------------------------------
Freebieman what do you hear when you try to make a call out? Do you hear a recorded message from Telecom saying the phone may be programmed incorrectly etc?

If so then you're experiencing the same thing that happened to me after flashing to 6.1. It is not a problem with the mobile, but it seems that something causes your mobile to fall off the network when the upgrade is done and it requires assistance from your carrier to get it working again. It took me a couple of phone calls to Telecom until I found someone with the expertise to identify and isolate the problem. Give them a call, if you they can't find it you might be best to get them to disconnect the phone altogether and then once done phone them again to get it reconnected.

--------------------------------------------

wonder what that specific thing was??? steve?

the same issue happens when upgrading the titan also. when people have given me their titan to upgrade, ive always asked them to disconnect their number completely from the esn, so the upgrade is done offline.

i believe the initial connection to the network causes some unseen NAM settings to be created. i have no idea about upgrading the oka/htc touch, but there is a telecom carrier cab for the titan which has most of the specific NAM settings required for the network.

is there a telecom carrier cab for the touch? if there is, i suggest installing that, soft resetting and give telecom another try. make sure that they dont just disconnect the phone from the network, the phone number must be completely removed from the esn for a set amount of time.

good luck in getting your issue resolved.
