Just got myself a T630 and finally retired the old and trusty T39m!

Need the phone driver in order for my T3 to talk to the SE T630. Downloaded the latest phone link file from palmone but when I try to hotsync it tells me:

The file UPDD.prc doesn't seem right as when I select this file in my T3, the initialization string says ERROR.?????huh.......duh.................????

I tried to reinstall a few times but it's the same. Even tried the UK website for Palm but the end result is still the same. Even tried to install without the file MohiSp1Lib.prc file where this file already exist in the T3.

Help me please? And by the way, will it cause any harm to the T3 by reinstalling the files a few times. What I mean, will the same files be installed in the T3 over and over again causing duplication?

Thanks.

duh..................

Do a hotsync, then do a hard reset. Then in the T3 backup directory on your computer overwrite the neccassary files with the new ones - then hotsync your T3 again.

That should do it.

Would prefer to avoid a hard reset if possible.

I also had a t39, then a t630, and just yesterday got a nokia 6255. all 3 working with my TT3 :-)

the driver you need is UPDD.prc, which is the only thing that will be different to using the t39.
It looks like it's in use on your TT3, or locked in some way when you try to hotsync.

You can try a no-notify reset - this is pressing the reset how with the stylus, and holding the up up button at the same time. This is a reset that makes the TT3 not load some stuarup apps. Then try the hot sync again.

If you still have not luck, there are other methods of installing onto a palm (bluetooth, IR, flash cards) so post back here and we'll see what else we can try.

QSL on that ZL2UMF.

Are there many ham operators here? Noted that your call sign is from NZ. The handler here's Brendon.

Ok. Back to business! hi..hi...

This no-notify reset - is it a hard reset? I'm a real nerd when it come to these stuff and I try not too meddle too much. If it ain't broken, don't fix it is my policy! hi..hi.....

If it's not a hard reset, am willing to try it out.

Let me know please mate.

Many thanks for your help.

I will be waiting for your reply.

ZL2UMF this is 9W6VX signing and best 73's.

it's not a hard reset - think of it as a bit like windows in safe mode.. most of the startup apps don't start.

Not sure on hams around here - you're the first i've encountered with the 73s :-)
This site is based in NZ, but the folks who use it come from all over.

ZL2UMF,

Won't work as per your suggestion! This is so frustrating! Now I can't send sms via my T3 as the T630 driver doesn't seem to be correct.

What other suggestions do you recommend to resolve this issue?

Many thanks mate.

Have you tried deleting UPDD.prc??
if you can't do that...

can you try putting UPDD.prc onto a SD or MMC card, putting it into the TT3, and then opening it using something like Launcher X?

but - after all this, it might be less hassle just to hard reset the palm and then restore.
palms are pretty good at restoring.

Sorry for the late reply.

Was away on a business trip.

However, I did manage to try this but it did not really work.

It seems that there are many problems with phonelink drivers for Palm. Check out the palmone forums http://forums.palmone.com/pe/index.jsp

I specifically tried this method to the T and at least it got the updd working. However my sms program Maxtext still cannot send sms out. A test on the T3 still says that the driver is not the proper driver for the T630. duh........

I'm so dissapointed with palmone. I will shoot an email to palmone and see what they have to say.

Refer to http://forums.palmone.com/pe/action/forums/displaypost?postID=20154373&returnExpertiseCode=

If you take the time to read the link I provided on the palmone forums, there are so many users who are so frustrated with the phone link drivers...............................!!!!!!

Cheerio mates.
