Hi all,

I'm friends with a computer guy from around the corner. One day I noticed an old RX3715 sitting on the top shelf in his office. He told me that he doesn't use it anymore, etc etc. Anyway, I asked him how much he would sell it to me for and he said $75. He said I could take it home to have a 'play' with and check it out. The only problems I encountered with it are 1. It's running like Windows CE 2.1 or whatever. 2. It wouldn't connect to my wireless network, which resulted in it continually attempting to connect. And failing (I'm going to see if it was my security). But anyway, I was just wondering whether it was worth buying for that price and whether I could update it to Windows Mobile 5. I have a limited budget right now but I was just wondering what everybody else thinks. Also - can I put Skype and say a twitter application on it?? Also, anyway to get Google Docs to work on it? I tried it but you can only highlight text, not edit it. Any ideas?

Thanks.
Nat.

For that money, you would be better off with an HTC Apache... with WM5 built in.

The RX3715 is running Windows Mobile 2003, not Windows CE. If it's not connecting to your wireless it may need an update - these are listed in the HP site.

There isn't any official Windows Mobile 5 or Windows Mobile 6 update for this model. You might find something unofficial.

Google Docs relies heavily on Javascript and Internet Explorer Mobile doesn't have all the functions required - as many other mobile browsers.

Hi again,

The guy ended up giving me the PDA for free, along with a BlueTooth keyboard - I don't have the software so I can't get it to work. Also, it's still not connecting to my wireless - I think it may have something to do with my settings - I have the average THOMSON router from Telecom. There's no security or anything. Any ideas?
Also, I've downloaded Skype onto it - no problems but it is very very laggy - it answers but keeps ringing - I've rung Skype Test Call and it just freezes. Any ideas with that?

But wait, there's more!

I go to boarding school and was just wondering if there's a way to connect the iPAQ to my Sony Ericsson W350i to use the internet instead of WiFi?

Hi TheNatteh

I do actually have the Chinese Version of the IPAQ 3715....

just wondering, how come your one doesn't connect to the Wireless??? I do actually connected...

However please know, this PDA only supply the first generation of the security, if you have the WPA2 setup, i strongly recommended change it back to WPA1 then you should be able to use the Wi-fi on this PDA...

Hope it helps
Jacky
