I have a Ipaq 3970 and a Nokia 6310i.

I have used the Internet previously with this pairing in my previous employment with tech support etc.

Since leaving the company I have failed to get a web page even though it looks like a good connection.

The phone is set-up correctly as I can get through to O2 active and browse Google etc.

When I dial up from the Ipaq I seem to get a good GPRS connection, however whenever I select a web page the globe turns and turns and eventually comes back with page not found.

This has been bugging me for several months now.

Any ideas ?

First of all on your Pocket PC open File Explorer, browse to \Windows and tap on welcome.exe. Follow the instructions and at the end soft reset your Pocket PC. Tr again.

If it doesn't work, look for VxUtil and install it. Then use it to PING a couple of hosts by name and by IP address. This will tell us if the connection is really established.

Also, perhaps you're using the WAP gateway connection instead of the Internet? Some operators have distinct configurations for these.

Ok, thanks.

No joy with the resetting.

I wasn't sure what vxutil to download so I went for the one below but also tried the earlier version.

I think my compaq is a 3970 but I've thrown the box away, how can I check ?

It is running Pocket pc v3.0.11171

I copied the zip file to my pc, unzipped it and then copied all the files to my Ipaq.

When I tried to run the installCE.exe it says it is not a valid pc application.

This was the same with the earlier version as well.

Help !!

You want this one: VxUtil.

Unzip to a folder in your PC, and run the install program on your computer when your Pocket PC is in the cradle. This will copy the appropriate file and create the icons in Start | Programs | Communications.

I've run the program and it said it had completed but it didn't look convincing.

My firewall said it was trying to connect to the internet which I blocked.

Is it safe to allow it through ?

I haven't at the moment got a start/programs/communications folder ?

OK, got the software loaded.

Tried pinging a load of sites and it's unreachable.

Did a trace of a few and it seems to go throuh a variety of 193. addresses then goes to a 10.address and then returns as unreachable.

I am using the O2 gprs settings and it seems to establish a connection using *99# as my dial-up ?

Any ideas ?
