Hi

Can anyone help me? I'm using CardBackup with the Treo 650? I'm getting errors when trying to perform a full restore. I'm using the full version of Backup V2_1a.

Thank you
Sharon

Exactly what errors are you getting? What sized SD card are you using?

First of all, I'd check to ensure that you have installed the latest update for your Treo 650.

Second, I'd email the developer of the application regarding possible solutions.

Hi Macey

thanks for your response. I have checked the link to PalmOne but unsure which model to select. It's used on Telecom New Zealand network?? Also I emailed JK Ware numerous times without any response at all. But hey, I'll persevere and hopefully will get a solution to this issue.

You should not install any of the versions there - they are for other operators.

If you want to restore the full backup, and assuming this software have not replaced the built-in Hotsync Backup solution, you can simply hard reset the Treo 650 and plug it. Create a new partnership using the same old name and all files and data will be restored from your desktop.

Of course assuming you used to have frequent Hotsync to a PC, instead of simply OTA synchronisation to a server...

Oops. I'm from "up over" so I normally give links to the US/Canada sites. Here's the link for the Aussies.

I'm very rarely at my PC and this is my daily work tool using Salesforce Automation software. I perform daily back ups before I send my work remotely to the HO server (this is just in case anything is lost during the transter) so the restore is an important part of the solution. I upgraded from the Kyocera 7135 to the Treo 650 only two weeks ago and needed to ensure all was working as it should be. So far I have not had to perform a restore due to loss of softwre. I only did the restore when I first received the Treo to ensure all was working as it should be.

The Backup Sd Card you are using - did you ise this to backup your Kyocera 7135, if so i would say the problems are because its trying to backup/restore setting from your 7135 onto your Tre 650 - and they have different operating systems and different network/system settings also. What you need to do is create a new profile on your system and build a new image etc - if you need some help please email me and I will get in contact with you to step you through it.

Hi Craig, thanks so much for your help with this.

I deleted all original back ups that I did from my kyocera prior to using in my Treo. I installed new OS5 software to my Treo first, tested the software and then performed a new backup. When I performed a restore (for testing purposes only) this was when the errors came up. However, this doesn't seem to have affected the 3rd party software installed to the Treo.

I'm not sure if I'm worrying about this unnecessarily, as it may not cause any problems, but thought it best to check now instead of when a problem occurs.

thanks

If the errors are not as big of a concern meaning that you aren't relying on it right now for essential data, I'd suggest trying another back up program solution that is more reliable. Check out my Palm blog posting for back up program suggestions.

I have found that BackupMan quite reliable and I have restored individual files and all files many times when something is causing a reset loop or crashing. I personally think that sticking with the popular back up programs like BackupBuddy, BackupMan, RescoBackup are probably a good idea since you want a reliable back up and they are reasonably priced. Consider how much you're willing to pay someone to get your data back if you do get stuck and how much the programs cost.
