I'm looking forward to getting my hands on one!

Everything that is written about the camera thus far has me drooling.

Yes very interesting, to be able to do 850 & 900 WCDMA on the same device - unless they are just condensing the specs of two devices into one line, but I doubt it.

Just note that there are only 2 countries in the world where 850 & 900 are running side by side - Australia and NZ (& possibly somewhere in Sth America). So let's hope they have done thorough testing.

don't forget the main announcement page on nokia.com: http://conversations.nokia.com/2010/04/27/nokia-n8-official-price-specs-and-pics/

*this* phone from Nokia means I'm very excited and slighty aroused too

at last a worthy replacement for the N82 (the best phone I've ever owned? I'd say so!)

possibly the best fact is this....   370.00 EUR  =   676.211 NZD

Interesting hardware from the photography and media points of view, disappointing in others. May well pick this one up, will wait and see. Apparently Samsung has something better than the Galaxy S coming this year, that hasn't been announced yet (source: Eldar Murtazin), and they haven't announced a successor to their Pixon line so far - they may well have something to stack up against this in the photography realm.

if it doesn't have a xenon flash it will in my opinion come second to the N8

this zdnet article is stressing the point that it is a 5band device, so looks like this could be the real deal. Great news for KIWIS!

(now if only it had dual sim cards capabilities too... sigh, oh well... next year please?)

I think this phone sounds well and truly worthy of the "Nokia Flagship" title that's been bandied about.

Might even challenge the mighty Android-toting Galaxy S and iPhone 4 - if it lives up to its promise!

but that is the crazy thing, this is NOT Nokia's flagship phone. We can tell that from both the model number of it and the launch price of it (only ?370!!).

I can not understate how OWESOME this phone will be! Just check out the features: the FIRST phone with Symbian^3, Wi-Fi 802.11n (yes, that is a n there!), 1/1.83″ camera sensor (largest in a phone ever! Is seriously big, will mean great things for photos), 12-megapixel camera, HD video recording, dedicated hardware graphics acceleration, supports *five* GSM frequencies (which is another world FIRST! And with our unique situation in NZ that is incredibly good news for Kiwis), Carl Zeiss optics, Xenon flash, 3.5-inch multi-touch capacitive touchscreen, 16GB (expandable to 48GB), Bluetooth v3.0 (only the 2nd device ever with it), HDMI output (& Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 channel surround sound, another mobile first), GPS. Finally have I mentioned its price enough yet? ?370!!

If you only look at the photography aspect then I'll grant you that.

But then besides photography it already loses to the Galaxy S on most fronts - smaller screen, OLED Vs Super AMOLED, lower screen resolution, slower CPU, no internal memory, non-removable and smaller capacity battery, inferior OS, inferior UI, larger physical shell... So its already behind in many other areas, so unless you're primarily interested in the photography aspect theres already plenty of reason to pass over the N8, even before you consider better handsets yet to come from other manufacturers.

I've been a Nokia fan for a long time, but haven't been too impressed with their offerings lately. But this phone looks excellent, if it lives up to the promises and isn't full of bugs! I'm almost certainly going to pick one up.
