Ok i see everyone going on about the wonderful bold, but really what is the difference between that and the 8520 Gemini.

I currently have a Pearl and am about to get an upgrade. It's a work phone and they have said i will get a Gemini or i can pay the difference and get the bold.

Trying to work out if the bold is worth the extra dollars?

you can compare them on vodafones website. 8520 no 3G. I've just upgraded to the 9700 and it is seriously cool

9700 hands down also supports 3G extended 900mhz WCDMA

I'm out in the country and driving around Rural South Island most days, so is 3G and all the fancy bells and whistles on the 9700 worth it for me?

The extended 3G would be. I spent the weekend in rural ohakune with full 3G where normally I'd just get a couple of bars on GPRS. Take a look at vodafones coverage charts.

The differences between the two are really quite substantial

on the Vodafone NZ coverage map www.vodafone.co.nz/coverage

3G extended 900mhz is orange and 3G 2100mhz is red the 9700 supports both these bands and standards along with 900/1800mhz GSM
