I am not sure if this is possible but...

I would like to use my IPAQ 4700 to connect to my Sony Erricson s700i and access the internet via vodafone live which is setup on the phone.

I have successfully got the ipaq to make the phone dial a number, But I think it would be easier (if at all possible) to use vodafone live.

Any ideas what sort of connection the ipaq would need to make with the phone, as it obviously isnt a dial up connection.

Would vodafone live have to be activated on the phone first, and connected, so the ipaq will detect there is a internet connection there?

Any help would be great.

I would be amazed if this works as the vodafone live platform will look at the browser you are using this will show handset make and model and firmware.

We might have to clear some concepts, as I am under the impression some concepts are mixed here.

Do you want to access the Internet (web pages, email, Instant Messaging and other services) on your Pocket PC over a cellular connection (GPRS in this case) or do you want to access Vodafone live! (a walled garden portal with content managed by vodafone and base on WAP)?

I have tried that once with a laptop (all other connections disabled except for bluetooth to the p910). It connects to GPRS fine (gets IP, DNS etc), however whenever I tried to connect to live.vodafone.com it would just return a blank page.

It was ages ago though using Safari... haven't tried it since.

Well, when connected to vodafone live you can enter a web address, and use the phones browser, not through vodafones menus, so basically, I want the ability to access the internet. its for software on the pda to get traffic updates etc.. while I am on the go, a dialup ISP as an option I spose, but would prefer to just use what is already there if possible

Then what you need is actually Internet via GPRS, not Vodafone live!.

Check our Bluetooth Guides, this one in special. You might need a init string, so you can use this one:

z;+cgdcont-1,,"internet" if you have a contract, or z;+cgdcont-1,,"pp.vodafone.co.uk" if you are on prepay.
