hey guys,

need some urgent advice/help. My ipaq once again stuffing up, i turn it on or restart it and it just doesnt go past maybe 1mm of the status bar moving on the boot up screen? Why! Any ideas?

Could it be something you have installed (a program or driver)? If this is the cae perhaps you will need a hard reset?

What model is this? Is the battery 100% full?

hey mate yeah its the RX3417, and now i just took battery out for about an hour and everything has been wiped! so unreliable.

Apart from the plasticky case which seemed a bit cheap and lacked good 'fit 'n finish', I enjoyed my rx3417, it was great, wish i had splashed out on the next model up with more memory. (I use an HTC Apache at present.)

Activesync includes a back facility which you should use often, or look for a backup utility to keep a current backup on an SD card or in non-volatile memory.

I would recommend this regardless of whether or not your device is unreliable - its just good practice anyway.

If you only sync data from Outlook, and dont have third party apps, or many/any customisations, backups are not so important.

This is expected. The Pocket PC (until Windows Mobile 5.0-based models) stores everything in RAM (unless you have a SD card) and if the battery is removed there is no power for the RAM to be kept alive - hence the contents of the device are wiped out.

Your PIM data should restore just fine (Calendar, Contacts, Tasks) and you just need to reinstall any trhid party programs, and restore files from the last backup - if you had File Synchronisation turned on, and used the \My Documents folder then your files should be also synchronised to the PC.

The question is: did it boot ok after placing the battery back in?
