HELP! I have just purchased a Bluespoon Bluetooth USB Dongle...and I have installed it to my laptop. I seem to have a connection with my VX6700 Pocket PC from Verizon....Now how do I get the phone to act like a modem, or connect to the internet for my laptop!

I am in URGENT need here of some assistance as I need to do a presentation that requires Internet access and have no connectiity other than my VX6700.......

Can Anyone help me???????????PLEASE

Welcome to Geekzone...

Providing your Pocket PC is not crippled by the operator (carrier) it should work as a normal dial-up connection over Bluetooth. You need to pair the PC and Pocket PC, and from Bluetooth Places (or similar depending on your software) perform a service discovery.

Once this is completed your PC will know the Pocket PC offers a DUN service. Double-click the icon corresponding to your Pocket PC to list all services and double-click the DUN service, or right-click the icon to see a Connect option.

Next you will see a standard dial-up dialog. The phone number to dial is #777, and the username/password will vary depending on the operator.

For Verizon Wireless enter the username phonenumber@vzw3g.com, password vzw. For Telecom New Zealand username is mobile@jamamobile, password telecom.

An alternative is to use the USB cable if your Pocket PC coms with the wmodem program. Check the Pocket PC CDMA Dialer page for more information.

Thank you for your reply. However, nothing seems to work.

I have tried and tried, for the last 3 hours to make just one of your suggestions work and have failed at all of them.

I was unable to download the program to connect the device via cable. I tried it on two computers and neither one would take the download.

This is really frustrating. I've got a great new device and a dependable Dell D600 laptop, and I can't for the life of me make these two things work together. The demo I have to do in the morning is sure to fail without this project working.

If you have ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS, PLEASE don't hesitate to send them along.

I am not sure the Bluetooth DUN works with either Verizon Wireless or Sprint - but are you able to see what services are offered by your Pocket PC when you open the Bluetooth software and confirm that DUN (Dial-Up Networking) is available in the list?

I have just deleted the original connection and tried to re-connect my phone via the connection wizzard. When it shows the 'serices selection' the only service that is there is "serial port".

Does this mean that this option is not available to me....

If not, what do I try next?

I am afraid it looks like Verizon has crippled the XV6700 as well - I think there are some discussions about this over the Internet in another sites...

No problem... Have a try downloading that file again - I've checked it and it's working (it was locked before).

Also, it will only work if there's already a wmodem program on your device - this program must come with the device.

I was finally able to download the program from the link you sent me.

I looked on my phone, in the programs file, and could not find the modem program you had mentioned. Could it be somewhere else on the phone?

If it is not there, is there somewhere I could download that program from as well?

I know this is yet another repeat... but I am trying to clarify. I want to connect to the internet through my Verizon VX6700 as a modem. I would like to connect via the USB cable, and have attempted to download the harrier program that was the response to the first post in the thread. When I tried to run the program from my laptop, the pulldown box stated there was no USB modem available, and did not give me an option to to change or select otherwise. When I tried to run the program on the vx6700, it informed me it was not a valid PocketPC program. I am currently running XP Pro on my Latitude D800, and Windows Mobile 5.0 on my Verizon vx6700. Any other hints or suggestions?

If the wmodem program is not on the Pocket PC then the laptop will not recognise it as a USB modem. The download is for the PC only - there's no download of wmodem avaialble (they are model dependent). If Verizon did not include it in the Pocket PC then it can't be used.
