It had to happen and it did.
Lost all GSM connectivity on my i-mate PDA2k running WM 2003 Second Edition (V4.21.1088 Build 15045.2.6.0). Had to do a hard reset and now I can't get GPRS going again.
Have installed NZ WAP settings downloaded from i-mate website as well as PDA2K Unidirectional patch.
This seems to be the problem:
I created the VFNZ Internet and VFNZ Gateway GPRS modems in the Advanced Network section but can't associate them with the Vodafone NZ account. They were associated with "My Work ISP" by mistake. I deleted the modems from My Work ISP and tried to recreate them under the Vodafone account but i get an error saying a connection already exists with that name, even though I can't find them. How do I go about deleting the previous settings and start again? Or is there another way to fix this?

Yes Go to www.clubimate.com and register your device with the IMEI number, just follow the instructions while registering and once registered go to the support section and select your device and go to connection settings and download the VFNZ connection settings CAB file. drag this CAB file to your device using the explore option of active sync or place it on the memory card. First go to the connection settings on the PDA2K then delete all the My work and My ISP entries and then browse the device to where you put the cab file and tap the file once and it will auto install, follow the prompts and the theme should revert back to the red Voda logo stuff and the settings will have been reinstalled!!!

That's the best way. If you still want to do it manually though, delete all modems from all connections and create a new one My ISP, modem Vodafone, connect to 3G, APN name web.vodafone.net.nz.

For MMS configurations check this other thread.

Already had the cab file from previous setup and had done exactly as you suggested, but that didn't fix the problem. It apppears that even after the modem is deleted, WM2003 still thinks it exists and won't let you create it again. May be a dumb question, but why can't I create a modem and then assign it to any connection? Does it have to be in strict sequence - create connection then modem?
It looks like the way to fool WM2003 is to create the same modem but with different name, e.g. VODA Internet, VODA Gateway.
Or I'll just hard reset the i-mate and start again.

Being an ARP (a$@!# retentive personality), I don't like leaving junk on my PC devices.
Cheers for the advice.

You have to create a connection, then create the modem. Then back in the connection dialog select the new connection from the dropdown list to make it the default.

Once it's the default, you can delete the other connection.
