BrentR: I've yet to come across one unit in New Zealand with the reported power issue.
If you do come across one they are covered under Nokia NZ's warranty terms.
BrentR: Hi Starplay,
As per my DM.
Nokia NZ only sell via their retail partners, we do not have the ability to sell to end users.
As other have mentioned you are quite able to remove the likes of the wallpapers, startup screens, links if you like, or move them to a folder of your choosing.
Having a version brought in from another country has you running the risk of not being covered under a Nokia New Zealand warranty (it will need to be sent back to the country of purchase), inability to update firmware to locally approved versions, language packs you may not want (arabic, chinese etc)
As Nik has also mentioned, most if not all First Mobile and Digital Mobile stores have live devices in store that you can have a look at and make a decision on whether or not local customisation that is there is too much for you.
Hope this helps clear up your questions, but feel free to ask away if you have more.
Regards,
Old3eyes
lyonrouge: does N8 force the updates like the evil empire or does it allow the user to choose?
Starplay: I trust Nokia enough to get the problem sorted fast enough if it ever did arise anyway... Not that I would expect it to.
YAY!!! - I get my N8 at the end of next week.... Im really excited!
lyonrouge: is Nokia responsible for the O/S(Symbian)? i.e. is it unlike WM and Android where have a separate hardware and O/S vendors?
