Office is included with 8.1 apparently, I am updating now.

I will let you know how it goes.

Since I only have the RT I can't comment on the Pro form factor.

I am loving the screen!

networkn: I quite like the MS Tablets, they are the closest things to productivity devices of that nature that exist in my opinon, however they have two fatal flaws. Pro needs to have the same form factor as the RT, and Office needs to be INCLUDED in the purchase price. In my opinion without those two things, it will not be the powerhouse it could be.

The Surface RT does include Office RT. It'd be nice if the Surface Pro included Office 2013, but I can't see it happening (not without a big price jump) - especially now that MS are trying to push Office365.

Just a tip in case you didn't know, you can change region in Control Panel to say US and get access to more apps, if you change back to NZ, the apps will still work.

Dairyxox: its not all roses however when it comes to built in codecs....you might laugh but i had trouble with mpg files with mpeg2 video content.

I wanted to use my 'old' JVC digital video camera with it but it wasnt happening. I guess its re-encode time for those clips.

mpeg2 is the most expensive codec to license, so thats why its often left out of platforms.  it didnt originally ship with either apple or windows platforms.  i think both used to charge between $25 and $75 for an upgrade.  it started to ship built-in on certain SKUs of windows vista and windows 7, but was removed again on windows 8 (available as media pack add-on for pro).

there are 'free' ways to play back mpeg2, but i dont think any are 'legit'
