not sure what ritemail is... for email i'd recommend Snappermail, which is the best email client for palm i've seen, but unfortunately doesn't do imap.. if you only want pop3 then snapper mails is great

i'm still searching for a decent imap client. Versamail is unstable, and all others only read the "INBOX" folder.

Which version of VersaMail are you using?

I've had no stability problems with 2.6 (supplied with T3). Shame PalmOne don't seem to have an upgrade policy though (2.6 = T3/TE only, 2.7 = Zire72 only, 2.0->2.5 = US$30 from memory).

i'm not sure what version - it was supplied with my TT
when listing folders, versamail can only see those in the / of the imap server, and not those that are subfolders
since my mail server requires all folders to be a subfolder of inbox, the result is i can only read the inbox.
that's a functional problem
add instability of deleting new emails from the server, syncing strangley with kmail (losing email again), and just crashing on startup consistently when i need it the most -.... i gave up and now used iambic mail that comes with agendus pro. - iambic only does the Inbox folder, but it does so reliably. it doesn't have many features but it does work.

TT = 2.0. Zire71 = 2.5.

2.0 was fairly shocking, and I was pissing with the lack of upgrade pricing.

Luckily I had a partner with a Zire71. So I swiped 2.5.

2.6 certainly works happily with my nested folders, although I honestly can't remember if I created them off the Inbox or not. It does take extra config though - they're not synced by default.

And I only sync with Outlook at work (as I use Thunderbird at home, which only has address sync) so cannot comment on that aspect.
