Aside from screen size, battery and build materials what are the differences? I'm looking at both now for my pending return to the MS camp along with a Surface Pro 3.

1520 isn't available here, 930 is
1520 has mSD slot, 930 doesn't
1520 ships with WP8, 930 ships with WP8.1 and Lumia Cyan firmware (so Miracast etc out of the box)
1520 available in black/white/yellow/red, 930 just in Black here I Believe (white/orange/green overseas)

that's about it. I'm sure BrentR till chime in if there is more differences :)

Post 8.1 update in apparently July does the 1520 end up with all the same software goodies as the 930, Brent?

yes, 1520 already has the right Sensor Core technology and the right Qualcomm chips for Mircacast once Lumia Cyan rolls out

My Lumia 1520 is a tank. Battery lasts me good 2 days with heavy use.

hmmm.. always curious with the WP devices.. and the new enhancements in 8.1 makes it even more tempting. Are there any users that have jumped ship from Android (HTC One in particular - but would like to hear anyone's experiences) to Nokia (1520, 925, or looking at 930 - my preference would be 930 out of these 3), or anything similar.. Care to share experiences.

I was quite pleased when the 930 was announced. Looks to be an awesome addition to the Nokia arsenal.

930 is basically just a 1530 in a more (mass) consumer friendly form factor.

Black only for the 930 in New Zealand and only via Vodafone (although all (current) 4G bands are supported for all NZ networks)

Miracast and SensorCore is built into the 1520 and 930.

930 will have a 2 year NZ warranty, 1520 will have whatever warranty the country of origin shipped with (generally 12 months)

Replacement parts for the 930 will be available locally, good luck with getting your 1520 screen replaced at an agreeable cost in NZ. As an example, 1020 screen replacement via our sanctioned repair agent FoneBiz is $241, via a 3rd party repairer in Wellington $500+

I ended up going from Nexus 5 to Lumia 1520. Took a little getting used to but now my wife's M8 feels tiny in my hand.

I mainly use whatsapp and the browser on my smartphone - no other apps. Find the huge screen great for browsing.

In the end, I figured the 1520 would have the same specs as the 930 - couldn't really justify the premium the 930 will cost at launch especially since they are practically the same thing except in a different size. Plus the 1520 easily lasts me 48 hours on one charge, a quality I would not expect on the 930. I got my 1520 new for $550 where I expect the 930 will launch at the $1K mark.

So there is going to be something coming for Telecom then?
Our Gen-I account manager was convinced that telecom were still testing the 930 and he was going to be able to get me one shortly.
