billgates: ^ nice. DSE releases the LG E900 WP7 model today as well. $100 off RRP for a limited time. Fantastic handset but only works on VF or 2D.

I would strongly recommend against buying a import if it's for use on the XT network. The phones on XT have been through quite a few tests and quality checks. Please refrain from doing this as if anything also goes wrong with this phone, you have no NZ based support to go back to. I have had quite a few customers with imports from AT&T and while they work, they have AT&T branding, and also are not designed for the XT network. Also for the general person this is less than ideal.

The LG Optimus in my mind is a excellent phone for it's price. For $899 you are getting a 16gb phone with a very fast processor and user interface. I took one home for a week and while at first the phone feels heavy (at 178gm) you do get used to it rather quickly. The iPhone is 137gm + the Samsung Galaxy S is 119gm, so the slide does add a wee bit of weight. The keyboard was easy to use and I managed to get used to it rather quickly. The screen is what is called "Gorilla Glass" which is VERY strong

If you are after a good phone for the price, I do recommend this phone. If you buy from Telecom you know you are going to expect good service if you need any help + also somewhere to take the phone to if anything goes wrong.

That pretty much outlines the reason I went for what telecom offers - I've been bitten in the past with parallel importing devices (the last one being an Archos) only to find they die or there is some quirk of incompatibility thus the pain isn't worth the price of saving a few bucks in the end.

As for the weight, meh, I've never been one to whine about the weight of my phone. I find it funny that people who are happy to haul around a 'desktop replacement' laptop seem to be the first to whine about an extra 20g of weight when it comes to their mobile phone Undecided
