http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/t5/Nokia-with-Windows-Phone/Nokia-s-first-Windows-Phone-devices-launched-at-Nokia-World-2011/td-p/1190483

Devices are already shipping to the first launch markets, the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and Italy where they should be in the shops during November 2011. Other countries are expected to be announced at a later date.

Looks like first markets will be ones that didn't get the N9 (at least I'm not sure of any overlap there).

More on the Nokia conversations site.

Not altogether surprising in my view.  It seemed fairly obvious from where the N9 was released that they didn't want the WP7 phones going head to head with the N9, at least to start with.  One can only speculate why.

Pretty tempted by the Lumia 800, love the phone, quite in love with WP7, though no real need to replace the SGSII I have apart from sheer geekdom, but hey, rather not do that.

Honest though, watched through the live stream of Nokia World 2011... nothing really impressed me - even their Mango devices. Not much is said about the devices themselves, and largely Kevin just gave a very very very brief (mind I say very scripted even) glance tour of few Mango core features - nothing that I haven't seen during my experience from WP7 and Mango on my HTC Trophy.

What did stand out were the Nokia Drive and Nokia Music - but I really highly doubt that Nokia Music be available for NZ market *eye-ing on Vodafone NZ*

Is Nokia Lumia 800 tempted me enough to upgrade from HTC Trophy? Neah, not really... it lacks the front camera that HTC Titan and Radar have.

I'm sorry to say, I'm quite disappointed with the smartphones range introduced lastnight. They both aren't that hip and pop up and yell for attention. The crowds were all that enthusiatic - when comparing to Apple or even Google's announcement.

At the end, it is just another Mango devices with few little extras and nothing else, Nokia gotta make it even more stand out!

freitasm: "For availability, you can expect to see the Lumia 710 hitting Hong Kong, India, Russia, Singapore and Taiwan by the end of the year, with additional markets in the first part of 2012."

Le sigh...

parallel import stores will be full to overflowing with the asian models then.... hope yet :P

Some great handsets to kick off the start of a new era in my opinion.

We've moulded what we could into Mango, bearing in mind that when we announced the transition into Windows Phone, the Mango feature set was firmly locked in.

The design aesthetics (of the 800 especially) beat anything on the market today.

Beautiful handsets, but the wait is not cool.

Don't get me wrong, Lumia 800's aesthetics is great and certainly the best of all the Mango devices announced to-date. However it is missing another key (on-par) feature when comparing to HTC Titan and Radar - the front-facing camera.

I have not had front-facing camera since I've switched over to Palm Treo Pro couple of years back, having said that I don't see myself having much opportunity to share "face time" moment with other BUT having such feature could certain set Nokia Lumia on-par or even slightly higher to consumers when it comes to a deciding factor against Titan and Radar.

Anyhow, any word on whether Nokia Mix Radio and Nokia Drive be available in NZ market? Previously Vodafone NZ's Music put a blockade on all Nokia's music offering. Will Nokia's fate in NZ be controlled by NZ's mobile carrier(s)?

Nokia Drive is already available on our other platforms (it is also a part of Nokia Maps), in regards to Nokia Mix Radio, we'll be able to comment when when can share information about local availability :)

Somehow I have a sinking feeling that Vodafone NZ is going to be a party-pooper on this.

Any chance to see Nokia devices to be independently sold (a.k.a. plain vanilla without being carriers' tainted-ness)? Especially being a quad-band 3G, it can go with any carrier in NZ, no reason to be partnered. The pricing (based on the announced's Euro of 420 (~NZ$730) isn't extremely pricey.

Hey BrentR.

See if you can dig up the "Discovery more" video clip on Lumia 800 on the baseball bat guy? He's featured at t=14s mark. Impressive baseball bat spinning skill!

Agree, - I'm sure they will look even better in the flesh :-)

But I'm going to hold off on a Nokia for awhile - the two models shown are effectively built on existing chassis that Nokia had in their pipeline prior to the switch to WP.  I expect we will see new models next year that will be true WP greenfield designs.

I've recently had a play with a Samsung GSII and was very impressed with it's 4.3" AMOLED Plus display, both for it's size and clarity. I'm not interested at all in going back to an android phone but would love to see a Nokia WP with the same kind of display and incl. front facing camera. I'm sure it will come in time.

After enjoying the bigger screen on the SGSII, in the interim I've just purchased an HTC HD7S and will upgrade it 32GB as soon as it arrives. My Mozart (also upgraded to 32GB) will go to one of my daughters. (I'm disappointed that the Titan and Radar can't be upgraded similarly).
