Wade: I think we can all agree that WP7 was a fail, lessons learnt and all that stuff, indications are that WP8 will not suffer a similar fate so becomes a bit of a moot point.
Looking from a consumer perspective, anyone who has bought a WP8 phone in the last 12 months will be on or will nearly be running the most up to date OS version plus are basically guaranteed an 8.1 upgrade, the same cannot be said for consumers who have bought an android in the last 12 months, very very few are running the most current OS and most will be 12 to 18 months behind with no guaranteed update path
Wade: But WP7 did not evolve into WP8, users had to jump off the WP7 wagon and then onto the WP8 wagon, that's a "phase out-->phase in" which is not evolution surely? The impact of WP7 on WP8 was a bit like Oracle's two point penalty before it had even began to race

Finch: I am thinking about going from Android - WP8. It feels like google is pushing all their services on me and I don't like it.
