cheeba23:
I used the NZ code and it upgrades the firmware just fine. Unfortunately I have no basis for comparison, so I can't tell if there are any differences in the firmware between using this code and the EURO code. One thing I can't find on the new firmware is internet telephony (wasn't sure if it was on the original NZ Vodafone firmware before anyway...

I used the Euro 1 product code and I have Internet telephony icon in the Tools menu. Have you checked in there?

Aloha:
You clicked on the SW Update icon in the PC Suite program right?
Because if you did so, then it will take you always to Nokia's website from where you have to download the Nokia Software Updater program, which is a separate program.

Thanks Pete.  The problem was I didn't have the very latest version of Nokia's PC Suite - I had 6.84 but when I discovered 6.85 and updated to it, everything ran smooth.

I just couldn't email earlier as our server email went down and we just got it going again this afternoon.

Thanks.

Ah, there it goes! Tools > Connectivity > Internet tel.

There's also push-to-talk & wireless keyboard settings in there I didn't see in the older firmware.

New Menu Structure

however to be honest I haven't seen any changes after installing this :)

Hi,

since upgrading to the new firmware I have noticed that my N95 is much more unrealiable with Bluetooth carkit connections (well its a Sony Ericsson HCB30).  It used to work fine, but now I get perhaps a 30% success rate.  Either it does nto find the carkit, or it gets staticy and breaks up during a call.

Anyone else have this issue?

Mike

I use a Motorola S805 stereo A2DP heatset and an iGo stowaway keyboard - both work fine (although I did need to repair twice on the headset).

Hey, when I tried using the Nokia Software Updater for product code: 0547584, the latest firmware is 12.0.013 which is what already on the device.

Also, Nokia Map, is it very limited? What's a good alternative? I see there's MGMaps but how do you use it? Is it full set?

Presumably that is a Vodafone NZ product code, it'll take ages for the V20 firmware to be incorporated by Vodafone. If you want to upgrade to V20 you'll have to change the product code, which has impacts on the warranty if its under one. If you want to go ahead with the upgrade search here - I posted a link to a page with all the instructions not long ago.

Nokia maps are quite limited here in New Zealand unfortunately, we're still waiting on the update. I asked the Nokia maps representative at Nokiaworld and he basically said that Nokia map updates are contracted out, so he couldn't give any timeframe. Shame, since they were brilliant in Amsterdam where the coverage is good.

MGMaps is good, currently some of the users here are working on uploading the latest version of stored maps for New Zealand (excellent detail in cities). The Google maps version for Symbian is nice, being native rather than Java certainly helps with load times and responsiveness, but unfortunately that'll run up data chargers as you have to download the maps as you go.

i used NZ product code to upgrade but seems almost everyone on this forum seem to have used Euro 1 code, is there any known issues with NZ one ?
and are there any other changes i need to make after update ?

btw music player sounds much better than before with my headset ,i dont know whether its just my feeling that its better or actually update made changes to music player!

one other thing with new update there are new applications (like IM,mynokia etc.,) where do i get information about them? i cant find it anywhere.

I used Euro1 so that I could turn off the shutter sound on the camera app. Nothing else, certainly I'm not aware of any other particular reasons for using Euro codes.

If you want information on software then by far symbian-freak is the best place to look.

how did you know Euro code has option to switch camera sound but NZ one ?
if you've a link that lists differences between those product codes that'll be great.

Yes i'll check symbian-freak for help on different applications. thanks

Funny, there should be no difference between the non-operator product codes in terms of feature as far as I know but correct me if i am wrong.

There are two types of product codes: sales area (country or countries) or operator product codes.
Each sales area product code covers a country or a group of countries.
Operator codes are different because of their specific software versions: new icons, new features, etc.
Country or sales area product codes should be different only in the language they provide.

So for me the reason why I choose Euro 1 because it has English, Spanish, Portugese, etc languages.

I think with the help of google you can find a lot of answers for your questions sqlpro.
