Microsoft promises its existing lumia phone uses they will all be upgraded to win 10 mobile & then trows most owners under the bus, saying that your phone is not good enough. Just as they did to win 7 phone owners, they are doing to win 8 phone owners.

I have a lumia 925, which meets the hardware requirements & runs the latest win10 insider build, really well, but now my phone has an unsupported OS, with no upgrade options.

who in there right will ever buy a phone with windows OS, if this is the way Microsoft will continue to treat its users.

Bottom line Microsoft should deliver what they promise.

Can you go back to Windows 8 or are you stuck on 10 insider now?

If you really bought the phone on the understanding it would get win 10 that might be a worthwhile CGA claim.

I'm thinking in your position I would be happy continuing with 8 as long as the security updates keep coming. That's the important part.

What windows 10 phone features could you actually need? ; )

Maybe there is a possibility to opt back in to insider and keep the security updates coming for that 10 build?

GregV: I am now able to Semble, and Chromecast, and install the app for my mobile provider, power company, wifi-enabled camera, local radio station etc etc.

that's only because those companies are cheapo lazy bastards

So companies are now expected to develop for platforms that don't really have users? It's not rational to expect a company to invest in a platform for a negative return.

Windows phone is the corporate standard at my current employer, and also my last two employers, and those are all 1000+ user enterprises.

Android and Apple are simply not designed for use by business/enterprise.

Windows phone is the corporate standard at my current employer also. But, as the guy who has a lot of say in that standard, there's a good chance it will change inside the next 12 months.

I like Windows Phone, but it just keeps getting harder to keep liking it.

My work has over 8000 iPhones rolled out to employees. In general they work extremely well so while I agree, from a security perspective, with the sentiment about Android I completely disagree that Apple isn't designed for enterprise. Because of all the ongoing issues around support on the Windows mobile/Windows phone platform, I don't think this brand got much of a look in when enterprise mobility was being investigated.

you can roll back to previous OS with Windows Device Recovery Tool

Q:  I’m currently using a Windows 10 Insider build on my device, but it is not on the list of devices that will receive a formal Windows 10 update.  What should I expect in the future?
A:  If you already have the Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview build on your device, you may keep using your device in an unsupported state. We will not be offering build updates beyond the Current Branch build 10586. At some point in the future these devices will also stop receiving updates to the Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview build.

In order to recover the devices back to a supported build of Windows Phone 8.1, you may use the Windows Device Recovery Tool.

I like Windows mobile, I left due to uncertainty and I just cannot see a compelling reason to return. It seems MS has an ongoing issue of littering the landscape with orphans that adds to the uncertainty and promises mean nothing.

Some android users see things somewhat differently

I've always been rather disappointing that Google has only just started to push their Nexus phones outside of the United States given that the flag carrier or so long has always been Samsung thus giving Android a bad name.

Btw, does Windows 10/Groove have gapless playback these days?
