JamesL: Generally it'll just make it take longer when you hard reset, at least thats what I found

Oddly with me, it "appears" the Hard Reset worked, as 48 hours later, they pored through...

thanks for the info

my handset is just like yours, a retail TNZ model, and my Store is offering updates automatically

The only difference I can think of is that I have my region set to US and my WLID/Microsoft Account is also set to US

but that shouldn't matter

I will do some digging and see what I can find out.

Yeah, mine came through after 48 hours, however I think if you hard reset within those 48 hours it would delay it again

Nokia City Lens came through the day I purchased the phone (Thu 22nd Nov)
All other apps that are part of the Nokia Collection in the Store that had updates (Maps, Creative Studio, etc) came through today as did others not available in the app list such as Network+, Extras+info and Feedback to Nokia

I see Dick Smiths website is now up to (down to) the same standard as some of the staff on their stores.

I wonder what phone you'd get if you tried ordering from the website.  I also wonder how many people would actually know the difference.

This is hilarious... Trust NZ to have the most incompetent WP8/Lumia launch anywhere.

To be fair to Nokia and Microsoft you can't blame them for Dick Smith's incompetence with their website.

What was wrong with the launch?

This. I don't trust DSE marketing people since I first contacted them for something related to Geekzone. The response was hilarious.

You can read back in the threads here and Nokia's FB page for the launch dramas. After having a reasonable pre-launch event that was pretty well picked up by the press, the dates were messed up, Telecom stores started selling them before the publicised day, told people they were sold out everywhere, had zero marketing presence on the Telecom site and in the stores, and was basically a total non-event compared to launches I've seen elsewhere. Nokia needs to get themselves a more competent NZ marketing manager.

I don't do the Face of Book so haven't read the comments there.  From what you've said it looks like Telecom didn't get it's act together very well, can you blame Nokia for that?

I went into the local Telecom shop a couple of days ago with the hope I could have a play with the Nokia 920. There wasn't one to be seen anywhere and there was absolutely nothing to indicate there was a new Nokia/Windows Phone 8 model in their range.

Another annoyance, this time with the browser

If you exit out, then go back in, pressing the back button exits the browser again. Looks like it doesn't retain history when you exit unless you go into "recent"

WP8 launch was a big deal for Microsoft and Nokia, a BIG deal. For Telecom, maybe not so much at all. But with two massive companies like Nokia and Microsoft launching their premiere products you would've thought it would've been pretty big in terms of publicity and the organization of the launch would have been sorted. Its like they left it all up to Telecom and Telecom really doesnt care.
