DuncanMcC: Someone asked for for a review, so... after two weeks or so..

* It's big!, very big. But you *can* quite easily hold it in your hand. Big is good.
* It has an *awesome* display. Not sure what happens during the day, but I think it's just per the 920 high contrast option (would have to check), but this automagically turns on in bright light. Works well too. Does make it easy to read.
* Good camera, would be happy for a 10megapixel camera, but I'm not complaining :)
* Also like the improved case, the top and bottom is now like the sides too (rounded, per the Nokia 920). Without looking at the specs, this phone feels thinner.

Overall (Nathan will love this :) ) - this is a bloody good phone!

Mine came w' Lumia Black on it - some good improvements, and *finally* a rotation lock, albeit hard to get to (burried in Settings, IIRC).

Bugs:
* If you set the camera at high res (and who wouldn't), it takes two pics. One "standard", and one at high res. The high res one drops a lot of the EXIF info! - including location info, so don't delete your "Standard" res pics.
* I couple more, but I can't recal them now :( - can't be major :) ...
* ahh.. one more that springs to mind: Settings, Applications, Background tasks: the "turn background tasks back on for this app the next time I open it" - doesn't seem to work for some apps (it just unblocks forthwith). If this is intended, it's not a good way for this to work.

No unintended phone reboots to-date.

Be hard pressed to find a better phone on the market right now.

download the Insider app, it lets you pin the Rotation setting to your start screen

Pulling the trigger on a Nokia Lumia 1520 Yellow next week hopefully if Parallel Imported in NZ sources some stock in which they are very hopeful on. Upgrading from a Lumia 720. Want the big screen and the 20MP Pureview.

Only bit of thing that keeps discouraging me is Windows Phone 8.1 hardware like the rumored Nokia GoldFinger which might even have something even better in few months time in regards to sensors for gestures without touching the screen but then I do not see WP8.1 devices release for another 4 ~ 5 months.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Congrats. Where from and how much?

Three accessories that I can recommend.

Nokia Lumia CP-623 Case

Nillkin Lumia 1520 Case

RAVPower Wireless Charging Power Bank - Must have if you travel.

Nokia also sells the DC-50 Wirelss Charing Power Bank but it's only 2400mAh. Lumia 1520 battery is 3400mAh. With Wireless charging, you loose about 30% energy anyways so it will not fully charge your Lumia 1520 and it also costs USD$99.

Parallel Imported have the Nokia Lumia 1520 in variety of colours in their system for $799 incl GST. Albany and CBD in Auckland do at least. East Tamaki store can order it in for $870! Albany and CBD can order them in as well as they usually only carry 1 or 2 pieces. Hamilton store will hopefully be able to place my order tomorrow for $799 and get it sometime this week.

Got mine today from Parallel Imported for $789 in Yellow. Got a Nillkin case in Black and Nokia DT-601 Yellow wireless charger coming from ebay. The device is HUGE. Telecom store employee was also very kind in providing me with a 4G Nano SIM card for free being a prepaid customer.

Are you liking it? I have gotten use to the interface now however the only negative thing i can note is the contact list, it has taken all the contacts from my emails through to skype and i cannot just make it so only my mobile contacts show

The device fits nicely into my pockets as i wear baggie clothes and my hand fits easily around it, the camera is nice as well... What apps are you going to be putting on it?

Just got it like 30 minutes ago. Still getting use to the size. I am already familiar with the OS.

For contacts filtering, go the People HUB, then go to Settings and then Filter my Contacts List.

Hey guys

Having a bit of trouble with the phone, today i went to check if my boss had texted me when my phone came up with a resuming icon, it has now decided to freeze itself with a black screen of death, however i know its not dead due to it having the time displayed correctly whenever i click the unlock button..

Anyone else have an issue like this? If so how did you get rid of it? Im not sure if i can pull the battery out or not?

Cheers

(very brief sorry but i am rushed at work)

The worst 1520 "bug"...

How many folk have noticed that a 'scroll' gets picked up as a 'tap'?

I don't like it, I don't like it at all.

Can this be fixed?
