I got it from the Vodafone shop at Chartwell-Hamilton.
I hadnt seen one locally and Id priced one at DSE online for $280 a few days earlier so was going to order one from from there online store.
I happen to call by the VF store and noticed the keyboard sitting on their back wall.
After not too much haggling I was able to get it for 260$ which i was happy with.
So far Im very happy with its operation

Welcome to the club!

In terms of software recommendations it would be helpful to know what you need to use the phone for?

I use mine for a variety of purposes, here is some of the software I've found useful:

Oxford Dictionary Viewer (for the medical dictionary)

PDF+ - better than the inbuilt Adobe PDF (to view medical textbooks)

Salling Clicker - I do powerpoint presentations relatively frequently from my laptop and using the phone to control the powerpoint (via bluetooth) is nice, it also controls WMP and iTunes and I use that facility from time-to-time.

ScanR is quite good, but you really need to have a Wireless connection handy to make the most of it - it sends photos via the net and they are sent back as printable PDFs (with some enhancements to text quality), I've used it during group work as a way to capture whiteboard work and so forth.

ACVM 2 is good - voicemail manager and beepless call recorder (never pay Vodafone for retrieving your voicemail again!).

WWIGO is nice if you ever need to use your phone as a webcam - and its freeware!

If you have a decent data plan them Mobile Gmaps (MGMaps) is worth checking out if you want to use GPS, the inbuilt one is very good, but sadly the New Zealand maps are still very poor.

If you like handheld gaming then VbagX is recommended (GBA emulator), Platinum Sudoku and Ludimate Sensible Sudoku are both good, C2Doom is nice (runs Doom WADS).

Oh wow, thanks a many, i've been hunting madly for some stuff that works properly. I very much like the localsed call recorder and the dict viewer.

I'm looking for it too, plus a suggestion on MSN client, eMSN seems to basic and has bugs where it crashed, free is always best :)

I Just bought the following 2 items, will report back on how good they are once received:

6X Zoom Camera telescope + Silicon case.
Crystal case.

Both bought off ebay with delivery for $50NZD odd.
Before anyone flames, don't ask me why, just looked cool :)

With regards to previous post, does the N95 support greater than 2Gb SD? I thought it was restricted?

Flashcards.co.nz have confirmed it is ok to use 4gb cards.
I did a bit of research and there were different opinions however.
13th August they will be getting them in.
Ill give it a try

Hi psychrn,

The 4GB MicroSD HC (high capacity) cards are compatible with N95 - I have one in mine right now ;] I got it a few weeks back.

I don't know what that NZ website will be selling them for, but you can get them on Ebay now from nextwebsales for around $90NZ including shipping (may be slightly less with the fantastic exchange rate right now). They are genuine, and will likely be cheaper than the NZ shop will be selling them for - why wait?

EDIT: Just to be clear I am talking about the Sandisk ones, I make no promises about the SD HC cards from other manufacturers.

EDIT#2: I am currently awaiting a set of Plantronics 590's (stereo bluetooth headset) from Ebay.

They sell for $300 here, but the ones I'm getting are only costing me $70NZ including shipping (granted they don't come with the desk charger and adapter for non-A2DP devices that the ones on sale here come with, but considering the massive price differential I'm OK with that).

I know that they work well with the N95 (no sound cut-outs), and aside from some relatively minor niggles are widely regarded as excellent.

I will let you all know about my experience with the seller and the gear when they arrive in 5-12 working days!

Just thought I would let you all know that over at the psiloc forums one of their developers has gone on the record to state that they have resolved the issues with porting Total irRemote to 3rd Ed!

No word yet on release date, but they 100% confirm it will be released for 3rd Ed, and it seems as if this will be soon.

See the Popular Downloads section below - lots of cool stuff like a divx player and messenger for S60.
I only wish the Core Pocket Media Player worked on the N95. I used to have it on my iPaq and it was fantastic.
The version there says it's for S60 so I'm not sure why it won't work on my N95 :(

da5id: I bought one of those crystal cases yesterday from First Mobile for my N95.
It's quite good; comes in two pieces of course: one for the bottom and one for the slidey top part.
The bottom has cut outs for all plug-holes, card holes and camera lens; and top has cutouts for the navigation keys and forward-facing camera.

In the pocket it does feel a bit less bulky that the leather case that comes with the unit.
The only downer is that it tends to slide open in your jeans pocket (exposing the 'play', 'fast forward' buttons, etc).
It's OK in your shirt pocket (if your shirt has a pocket). I also notice the edge of the crystal cover intrudes out slightly over the media keys when the top is open to the media player position.

I will upload a pic when I can.

I had a crystal case for my K750i which served me well, but of course that didn't have the sliding top.

Anyone else have any recommendations or experience with different cases?

How much did you pay for it? I bought a $10 case and it was rubbish so I threw it out. I guess you get what you pay for. I thought that I would be better off just keeping the phone in my original case.

I paid $19 I think. It already seems to have a small crack in the top corner though...
I'll leave it on though as it's still safer than nothing at all and the leather thing is too bulky.

One of my Korean friends said the in Korea you can get the 32gb MicroSDHC cards for $2000 NZ. I was skeptical of that but I didn't actually say anything to him about the cards at first, he just said when he saw my 1gb one that in Korea you could get the 32gb ones. I had to tell him about the difference between MicroSD and MicroSDHC cards.

Can't beat the burble of that American V8. Ohh yea!

32GB are only feasible at this stage (what the microsdhc standard allows), only just had 8gb manufacturing samples being shown around the place, 32 is a way off.

As for the 4gb ones, they wholesale for $88 so expect them a little over that in a couple of weeks :)
