No-Do update now released and avaiilable. Will take a while before it gets to your phone so keep trying in Zune.

billgates: btw the No-Do update will now come in 2nd half of March for everyone now. The update has been approved by all carriers worldwide.

Not quite. T-Mobile Germany for example confirmed it will only be available for their customers *end of April*.

I am sorry, but the update story is not well done on this platform.

so which platform do you consider has done this well? I've heard that several android devices can't even be upgraded to new versions, and apple has had a bad track record of bricked iphones and buggy updates too...

In terms of expectations I'd say Apple. They are consistent with their delivery, and everyone gets them at the same time. That's what counts for customers.

Their brand is so well done, that customers "forgive" the device bricking.

Android is very fragmented, and Windows Phone could be going down the same way soon.

I want to like my HTC Trophy and Ive tried really hard to. Some things on it I do really like but at the end of the day I keep coming back to my iphone. The thing is, it just works.

The thing with Apple is they are updating ONE brand of phone, their own, whereas everyone else has to produce firmware/updates for all the multiple manufacturers with various levels of hardware capabilities.

It's not hard to see why the Apple offering works better but that doesn't mean it's better per se, they still can't seem to get daylight savings right despite this

AT&T is another one who seems have not approved the update yet:

"Hi Everyone - We know you're eager to update your devices. As with all updates from manufacturers, carriers need to work closely with the manufacturer to test the update prior to pushing it out to customers. We want you to have the best experience possible, so as soon as we have news to share on the update, we'll post it right here on Facebook."

T-Mobile Germany actually have no idea when the update is coming:

"Ein konkretes Datum fur das NoDo Update und ob es mit dem Pre-Update gebundelt wird, haben wir leider noch nicht. :-( ^ju"

I have to agree that the update management has been pretty poor. Selling point was that i'd get updates, similar reason to purchasing a nexus device on Android.

I had flashed the european 1.30 rom to my Mozart, and copy and paste was just fine. Zune software still updated it again yesterday and all still working fine.

It's the telcos, not MS causing the issues as far as I can see.
Personally I think MS should try and sel these phones outside of the telcos.

Given most of us here are interested in hacking and modding phones i'd suggest you find a way to get a debranded rom flashed for whatever phone you use. You might lose Vodafone live! but thats about it.

As an OS it's great, very intuitive, and does work well. Interestingly my colleague was not at all sad to accidently drop her android phone into the toilet, it was very hard for a nongeek to use.

Just an update to my earlier Zune error message - hard resetting the phone made the update(s) immediately available, and I now have Nodo, and no more error messages when attempting to update.

Seems like it is a common fault with LG E900/Optimus 7

Apple messed up majorly, many times. This is the first update run for a brand new set of devices, wait till the next one, at least, before writing off the whole update platform and processes...

in any case, people have waited a few months for this update, whats a couple more weeks.

Just reading through all of this... if I get an HTC Trophy from Vodafone and have it on 2 degrees, are there any issues getting the updates.. because i though these ca,e via Vodafone?

And likewise, if I was to get an imported Omnia 7 and run it on 2 degrees will it get the updates?
