visual voicemail is a feature that carriers have to implement, not anything specifically related to WP7, iphone or android etc. if it costs a lot, and doesnt provide the carrier any benefit, then you;re hardly likely to see it implemented..

Telecom's isn't either. But Telecom does have the text message with one touch message retrieval.

dug my windows phone trophy out and upgraded it to see what mango is like. Decidedly underwhelmed. Speech function is next to useless although good for a laugh to see what bing thinks you are looking for. Sylvia Park movies turned into ladies hat zombies lol. Using speech to compose texts has not yet worked properly once after about 20 tries.

Live tiles are nice but anything else I find Im swiping to many times to find what I want.  To top it off my phone seems to no longer turn off. Holding the power down and swiping seems to simply restart it now.

On the plus side the upgrade process went very smoothly and the phone definitely feels snappier.

Anyway....back to the iPhone, roll on version 5.

what network are you using it on?  vodafone?  I heard that data/network issues can create problems with the voice recognition.  I'm on 2degrees with mine, and I have composed several TXTs over the last few months using the mango beta, all pretty much 90-95% accurate.

If you have a wireless connection, give it a try with that and see how you get on.

And it's almost three weeks since the updates started, and my wife's stock HTC Trophy (Vodafone NZ) has not received the update. Checked every day.

Very disappointing. iPhone users have their update on the release day, everyone together.

And no, I don't want to use "the trick" to get the update installed on this device. I did on my LG, but wanted to see how long it will take for Microsoft to actually deliver it.

MF, just wondering, is the version of Zune client on your workstation wherere you are connecting the LG phone to look for an update is running V 4.8.2345?

Yes, it's running 4.8.2345.0... The update worked on the LG Telecom (with the ethernet disconnect trick), but have not been presented to the HTC Trophy Vodafone (not doing the trick because I want to see how long the fail lasts)...

We have a lot of HTC Trophy handsets at the office and I don't think all of them have received the Mango update alert yet. Possibly the 'notify me when updates are found' option is unticked or maybe it's just the rollout is taking a long time.

Anyone else with Windows Phone handsets that haven't been offered the update yet?

To be fair here, plenty of iOS5 users had issues like all apps deleted from their phone, contacts wiped and what not including few geekzone users who were getting other random errors.

Not saying that MS update strategy for mango is by far the best because in my opinion seeing that the roll out so far has been good without any incidents for mango, they can safely now offer the update to everyone but at least the update has happened without any incident something which Microsoft cannot afford to have seeing they are trying to gain public trust here.

I too have not recieved the update for Trophy (VF). Interesting I got a message on my phone advising an update was available, but when I connected to Zune it said nothing is available. I regards to "operator dependant" is this based on IMEI or IMSI?

I double checked here yesterday and we still had two HTC Trophy handsets without the Mango update so we forced them as detailed here. Both upgraded without a hitch.
