GPS and turn-by-turn navigation with voice commands works nicely....

Although I did notice, that when activating the Nokia turn-by-turn navigation...it said I only had a 30day licence (free period)....I thought it was 3 months?

I am meeting the Nokia Product Manager NSeries this Monday for coffee... Any questions you would like to have answered?

Hmmm. Yes. She will show me a N97 and apparently there's one unit for review coming later, which (if it is like other Nokia things I have had around) willl be here for only a couple of weeks...

Why the "interesting" comment?

Hmmm....I don't see a file manager/explorer installed by default...that is annoying.

I took a movie while testing out sportstracker....and tha movie clip is found under 'photos'....not 'videos and TV'.....thats confusing, dumb.

File explorer is there, had to use it to locate the xplore.sisx which wouldn't install anyway.

The folllowing really is starting to annoy me though...

-When resuming from standby/ locked mode, sometimes the screen doesnt light back up and i have to lock then unlock it.
-When opening the messages icon from the menu, the screen does not refresh until you touch/ press something.
-When i get a message the screen doesnt light up.
-Camera doesn't even come close to my n82.
-occasionally get minor single line display artifacts-happened once actually.

ok now i'm off to find some good stuff about my $1400 purchase, will report back asap.

File Manager is inside the Office Folder

Videos and TV is more for the Online stuff (You Tube and other web video feeds)

That may be so, but its still not logical to store and find movies in a folder names 'Photos'

I hooked the mobile up to my computer, to test ransfering files of different formats etc...
Naturally, I put movies into the 'Movies and TV' folder...they show up as they should...but...
I transfered 4 small files...all good...then went to transfer a typical full size movie (700MB)...and it came back with an error everytime, even if I tried changing the movie...kept saying the N97 was disconnected...but I was in the N97 folders browsing, so tha not correct...a bit buggy there.

Found the file manager now, thank you.

There isn't really any for S60 v5. I've found converting the files to the right file format the easier solution. Obviously its time consuming but then at least the aspect ratios are right.

The site below has information on how to do it for the 5800 which obviously carries over for the N97

The video problem is one of the worst omissions in this handset (the whole N-Series range really) for me - loving DivX/XVid on the i8910 - no downsampling require and perfect playback on the amazing 3.7inch AMOLED screen...

Thanks for the link BrentR, I used to use Super, good software. Will probably try a couple of movies when my N97 arrives.

Hey Bartender, the new firmware for the N97 is out within a few hours, that should fix alot of bugs. Will make the device more responsive too.
