alvin: technofreak,

if you read a few pages back, dclegg has taken the cudgels up for the GZ community by placing a bulk order of 20 units at mobicity believing that we could get a wholesale price.  Again, this was the information given by their online salesperson.  Everything changed when dclegg received the quote and the price per unit was unchanged and the only concession was a lower shipping fee.  to cut the long story short, we didn't bother placing an order from mobicity.  and be careful with what that online salesperson is telling you as this was what happened to dclegg.  go a few pages back for the full story...

Thank you, I had read that saga as it unravelled. I haven't been talking with anyone, just quoting what their website showed me.

I've placed an order thru their website, if it comes thru all well and good if not well I've got that money to spend elsewhere

I hate being lied to, and Mobicity claimed they had stocked when they didn't. For that reason I cancelled my order with them. I'm paying an extra $10 to get the TouchPad from the US. HP's warranty on products has been worldwide since August 1999. See http://h40059.www4.hp.com/warranty/information/faq.php#2

I've done it more than once. I'd have to side with you that eBay is looking pretty appealing now. Waiting for a reply.

I'll quote it for you:

"We're waiting on our supplier, which is scheduled to deliver more stock Sept 1st. We cannot guarantee that your order will be fulfilled as it is a first-come-first-served service. ETA to deliver to Auckland if supplier delivers on time and there are no customs clearance issues is 2-5 business days. I can organize a full refund if you have time constraints."

More or less what transpired in the chat yesterday. They're were very helpful, but in the words of Jeremy Clarkson: "Ambitious, but rubbish".

You'd assume if they were waiting for their supplier to deliver they'd already have a idea of how much stock they are getting. Got my eye on a ebay auction but even then the seller says they will have their tablets in 1-6 days (Trust that?) Ah well. I'll see what happens.

Oh live chat is offline too so won't be getting an answer soon.

I actually found a seller with 3 units to sell, very responsive to emails. Placed an order (through PayPal, of course) and am waiting for tracking number.

Mobicity disappointed me with their 'fake' stock levels.

Kinda doubt it as eBay has been going crazy for touchpads but have been keeping my eye out. International shipping is a killer. But it's not worth using a US Address I don't think.
