Just a quick post re: my stereo (A2DP) bluetooth headset - Plantronics 590e.

It arrived today, after purchasing only last week on Ebay. Only had a couple of minutes use with them so far, but so far very happy.

The flashing light around the ear piece with all the control buttons will certainly be an annoyance in low light/dark conditions I would think, and the construction is a little "plasticky" (although for longer sessions the low weight is likely to be a positive in terms of comfort) but otherwise they work as they should - easily paired, no sound breaks (annoying drawback of several others I've tried), and sound quality is pretty good (have yet to try them as a wired headset). Took a call on them, and sound on my end was fine, I was told I sounded a little echo-ey on the other end, but perfectly intelligible.

A wee note: I think they may be buffering the signal a little to achieve no drop-outs as I see online that there is a slight, although noticeable, delay when watching video with these. If gaming/watching video is something you want some AD2P headsets for, then perhaps shop around for something else (or see if you can try them out, some people find them find fine for video, others who are particularly sensitive to sync like me find delays intolerable). The other possibility is that the audio bitrate from some sources may be too high for bluetooth streaming, I will try them out with some xVid or similar that uses mp3 audio encoding and see if this ameliorates the problem.

Compared to the others I've tried I would recommend these to any N95 owners with a desire for a stereo A2DP headset.

I got them for $70NZ from Ebay, including shipping, which makes them a real steal. Granted they didn't come with the adaptor etc that the 590A comes with, but then the 590A retails here for $300, so on balance I still think they're good value for money.

EDIT: Just ordered the Motorola s805 A2DP headset from Ebay. $130, rather than $300+ here. My Fiance had one go with the Plantronics and suddenly "had to have" a headset for herself, since I have to get another set now it seemed like a good opportunity to try a differentheadset out. I hear very positive things about these ones as a wired headset also (very good reports about audio quality as a wired solution), which is nice when I want to practice with my guitar and amp without bothering the neighbours. Will report back once they arrive.

I did something very bad, I grabbed a p1rate version of VBAGX and CSDOOM and both are great! As i'm an honest person, i'm buying them and the gameboy emu as well for real, though after seeing the demo's I wouldn't have shelled out as the demo's portrayed a poor picture.

I have never seen this type of speed for Gameboy advance on any mobile device before!

I wonder if the N95 works with those i-tech laser keyboards? you could possibly mod one into a really cool low-impact gaming device.

Glad to see that you worked out VbagX - its great eh? What games are you into? I've been playing Fire Emblem (nearly finished though, good thing theres another one) and loving it, been playing a little Advance Wars 2 as well and some Ghosts and Goblins for that old skool fix.

C2Doom is nice alright - if you need mods then try searching at symbian-freak.com. There is a post there with a great collection of mods. The Star Wars one is very nicely realised.

I believe others have used the N95 with the laser keyboards with good results. . . Speaking of, I need to check out the iGo keyboard - I'd really like to use a keyboard for gaming with the N95 in TV-out mode. My only misgiving is that the Nokia SU-8W has keyboard shortcuts that are Nokia-specific, like the softkeys. . . Opinions anyone?

Hi my name is Yvette I hope that I have posted this question in the right thread, I have purchased a Nokia N95 on a 2 year plan, its thru the Moblie company 3, its a great fone! anyway someone got in my ear about putting an antivirus application on so I did thinking that I was just looking after my new prize but since installing it (F-Secure Mobile S60 x3) I started having trouble accesing any features like my mobile web and panet 3, getting upset and frustrated I just removed it from my phone, thinking this would resolve the issue, boy was I wrong!! I have tried pretty much everthing going through settings with my provider and still no good! I have been looking around to see if anyone else has had this issue and so far the only option I have found is to try to do the Firmware update on the Nokia site, can anyone tell me if this will erase my my problems?? will it erase the branding software installed on my phone I really want to get my internet up and running again, is this the only option available to me?? any help would be wonderful as before this happened I was over the moon with my N95 now I feel dissapointed.
I have read a few articles from this forum and feel that most of you are very smart and know what is going on with your Nokia N95, I haven't even got a clue as to the GPS works all I know is that it takes a great picture, that I like it and want it working as it was before my bungling f-secure install.

I would try a soft reset first, its located somewhere in the Tools area I think. Otherwise enter *#7370# to hard reset the phone, make sure you backup everything first as it will nuke your contacts etc.

As a last resort power the N95 off, then press and hold the green key (make a call key), * key and 3 key simultaneously and hold them while turning the power on. As with hard reset back everything up first.

Lots of info HERE about game emulators for SYmbian s60 3rd edition. Some guy is writing an update to Frodo (a Commodore 64 emulator for the platform). For a donation he'll send you the alpha release. Lots of other platforms too.

Thanks heaps for helping me, Iwas unaware that I could do this with this fone, I used to have a nokia 6600 and if I made a real bad mistake you could just reformat on my own by pressing a few buttons at the same time. Iam about to try the soft reset now and see how that goes.

Hey N95 users,

Just out of curiosity, do you prefer to use the leather case (supplied in Asian packaging) or do you prefer to use the plastic cover to protect your investment? By plastic cover I mean the plastic case covering the entire phone.

I am finding my leather case to be a little cumbersome now... although it does look good.

I like the the leather casing though the phone jumped out of it today and hit the deck throwing battery out half-way though a HSDPA voip call.

The phone would not restart either but a TALK+*+3 hard reset fixed it, Phew!

Personally I think the supplied case is very nice, as far as cases go anyway, i just prefer the phone without as i really like the N95 form factor. . .

The hard reset is indeed handy, had 2 do my first one last week after copying gmaps cache 2 the phone and accidentally hitting the gallery button - doh!

Oh, and a quick heads up for everyone here that is thinking about getting a bluetooth keyboard - expansys.co.nz have dell-branded iGo stowaway keyboards for only $89nz at the moment but only a few left! Just ordered one, been checking out some comments from N95 owners - they sound great, even better than the nokia one on account of having larger keys and a good laplock (they still have Function keys for the softkeys and application shortcuts etc). Apologies for the lack of paragraphs - this is posted wirelessly from my phone on the new university wireless network. . .

Everytime I take the phone out of the leather casing I am reminded of how small it is. The leather case makes it look and feel like a monster, haha. So many functions in such a small package!

I use the Leather case. I find that it is good in protecting the phone but it is a little thick. I always love handling the phone when it is out of its case but I don't normally risk it in my pocket with out the case.

The phone is actually quite slim when it isn't in its leather case (which is a nice case) but with it on, I defiantly find very hard to get in and out of my pocket.

As mentioned earlier, I bought a cheap ($10) hard plastic case for my phone but it was bad quality so I threw it out. I felt as though the phone would be better protected without anything on it than with the cheap plastic case.

Can't beat the burble of that American V8. Ohh yea!

The only problem using the supplid leather case is that the call recieve button gets pressed whenever its in my pocket.
