He is right. It is an incredible price. Perhaps just not the "incredible" that most people are thinking about! Laughing

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Closes tomorrow, can't see it selling for some reason. The attraction for me was the low price. Mine will end up costing just over $300, which i'm happy with, up around that price you could get a relatively decent android tablet from the states.

sonyab: from what i have heard is they have all the parts sitting there as obviously initially they thought it would be an on-going line.  So rather than waste them looks like theya re going to make the parts up into one last lot of touchpads.

HP's official position is outlined in their blog here:

http://h20435.www2.hp.com/t5/The-Next-Bench-Blog/More-TouchPads-on-the-Way/ba-p/68749#comments

Basically one last production run, looks like they will only be selling via their website, pages and pages of comments below the article from people who missed out.

good luck to him, what an idiot, I can understand if someone puts 100 odd bucks on top of the original price, just for there hard work hunting the touchpad down, not someone putting over double the value on top, thats not on, plus why would anyone in the world want to pay $550 for a ditched product, just add another 100 odd you get an ipad 2 or an android tablet, plus the news is hp will have more stock in coming weeks, i would expect that's what mobicity is selling now.

I don't think mobicity are selling stock that is still to come, seems as though they are starting to ship some already.

Mobicity:

We begun shipping several pallets for the touch pads earlier yesterday and have fulfill quite a numerous amount of orders from the stock we received earlier than expected, we're just awaiting a for our primarily shipment which is expected to be received and should begin dispatching early next month, within the first week.

HP Blog
:We don’t know exactly when these units will be available or how many we’ll get, and we can’t promise we’ll have enough for everyone. We do know that it will be at least a few weeks before you can purchase.

I think mobicity have a different source. It will be interesting to see if the new shipment of touchpads being produced is sold directly through HP's online store or distributed through US retail stores as well. After reading their comments it looks as though the only country to get more stock from HP directly will be the US (Surprise!).

I've enjoyed this thread. Not just because I've actually got a touchpad coming, but it's one of those rare threads where everyone is hyped up on the topic.

It's been a blast. Thanks all.

Just got an update on my TouchPad from eBay. It's en route from Delaware. If only I could get it by Friday afternoon, I'd use it as my 30th birthday present (Sunday)... :)

I'd have to agree, it's been interesting reading. It wont be all over for me until I have mine in my hand and actually have something to use all of my accessories with!
