Hi guys. I'm looking to get back into simming (namely Train Sim 2013/14 and FS2004 (again) but I need to update to my 5 year old computer before I can run these games. I know a desktop would be ideal and a little cheaper, but my needs require I get a laptop, and I have narrowed my search down to a few and I would like to know what your thoughts are on the best setup for these sims. Obviously I'd like to do a little MS office work, video editing, browsing etc, and I would ideally like to run the games on high graphics setting if possible...

I won't go into too much spec, but rather just the basics that mean the most...

1) ASUS N56-VM, i7-3610QM, 4GB RAM, GT 630M 2GB

2) HP ENVY, i7 (Has) 4702MQ, 8GB RAM, GT750M 2GB

3) MSI GE40, i7 (Has) 4702MX, 8GB RAM, GT760M 2GB (DDR5)

4) MSI GE60, i7 (Has) 4700MX, 16GB RAM, GT750M 2GB (DDR5)

5) MSI GX60, AMD A10-5750, 8GB RAM, RADEON 7970M 2GB (DDR5)

6) MSI GX70, AMD A10-5750, 8GB RAM, RADEON 8970M 2GB (DDR5)

Well folks, that's it. There's a few there but if anyone could offer any advice as to what laptop would run this game best, I would be grateful.

Of those, I'd go for the MSI GE40. It has the best combination of CPU/GPU, imo. The Alienware M17x R4 is well worth a look if your budget allows, too.

Thanks for the reply. The Alienware is way out of my price range I'm afraid! Trying to convince the Mrs to let me spend close to $2K was hard enough!!!! Just looking to get the best bang for my buck!

I would stay away from HP hopeless at updating drivers and they have a very heavily customised version of windows in my experience.

Go for MSI GE40, i7 (Has) 4702MX, 8GB RAM, GT760M 2GB (DDR5)

It's the best compared with other options.

Thanks for the replies guys. I now have the new laptop, and I opted for the GE60 in the end. It has a dedicated number pad, which for some programs I use is a must have. All your advice has been appreciated. Thanks again.
