tstone: Tried it last night and works great. What I really want to achieve is to stream a game to my PC and allow others to watch TV at the same time but can't seem to figure that out.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that this was going to be a feature, but it seems like it hasn't been released yet?
The little things make the biggest difference.

I don't have a source for this, but my memory of the announcement from gamescon was that you were going to be able to stream TV from the XB1 to PCs/Tablets without interrupting the gaming, not the other way around.

yeah I've used the TV streaming loads and it's been awesome to use when the xbox is being used by someone else.
I managed to find this link with a vid: http://www.windowscentral.com/how-to-stream-xbox-one-games-windows-10
Looks like you need to enable it in the settings, will need to check when I get home.
- Enable game streaming on your Xbox One. Go to Settings > Preferences and check Allow game streaming to other devices.
- Launch the Xbox app on your Windows 10 PC and tap or click Connect on the left pane.
- Select your console from the list and tap or click Connect.
- Attach your Xbox One controller to your Windows 10 machine via a USB cable.
- Tap or click Stream.

When I try to stream TV to the PC it tells me I am not allowed to do that. If I remember correctly, that functionality requires the addition of the TV tuner to the Xbox, which isn't released in NZ yet.

Sorry, but your response and instructions are for game streaming to a Windows 10 PC, which works fine for me. How do you stream a game to the PC and watch TV, on the TV, using the TV app on the Xbox One, at the same time?

Yes, I have been streaming TV via the TV tuner. I picked one up from the AU store and shipped it to a mate who forwarded it to me. I presume you can use you shop to forward if you really want it? I have my xbox region set to UK to enable the use of the TV Tuner however...

Aha! Thanks for clarifying. How well does it work with Freeview?
Doesn't setting the region to another region (UK) affect bought games, what appears on your home screen, availability of rental movies (from Xbox Video) etc?

tstone: Thanks for your responses. It's worth considering going down the UK Freeview route because I got no response from Microsoft about when the New Zealand version of the tuner would be available. I even messaged Phil Spencer about it; but he didn't respond to me.
I really want to get rid of Sky and having the Xbox guide populated with Freeview stuff would be great too. Does the guide work for you? The other alternative is a FreeviewPlus box to replace the Sky box. Add in the ability to record TV, recently introduced to Xbox, and who needs a separate Freeview box?
Are there are any Xbox/Microsoft people watching this forum?

Yeah I don't think a NZ release is happening anytime soon. Considering it was released in Aus back in April and there's still no news for NZ, I wouldn't hold my breath. But happy to be wrong.
No, unfortunately the guide does not work at all. When you change the channel, it will show an info bar with the program that you're watching along with the next scheduled program, however that's it. It's also a wee bit slow in getting the info and I find changing the channels can be a bit cumbersome.. You either have to flick thru each channel until you get the one you want, or you go to the channel menu and scroll down to the channel - which as i mentioned is a bit slow at times so it does take a while.
It does record tv, I think it's only for 30mins at a time, unless they've released added functionality to record longer? So you can pause tv and go away for 30mins and continue, or rewind back 30 mins.. However if you decide to change channels, it will start recording from that point on.
.............................................................
simple logic.
