what are peoples thoughts on the new steam sale?

no flash/daily sales means no impulse buying, which is great for my wallet, I cant find anything I actually really must buy now.  Everything I want I'm sure I can pickup again later during a regular daily/weekly sale for the same price.

Was hoping to get FF Type 0 but thats not on sale.

If you dont have Rogue Legacy, pick that up (goes on sale a bit, but awesome game).

tl;dr meh

A large portion of the front page seems to have "In Library" over it suggesting these are the same deals now as usual. Things like Fallout Collection and CS:Go are expected and on par or more expensive than other deal sites, so yeah, agreed, not that exciting. Cities Skylines is a great game and as cheap as its gonna get for a while.

Excellent city sim!   Made by the same people who did Cities in Motion.

lost planet 2 is finally on sale (1 and 3 have been on sale a few times over the past 2 years, but 2 has never gone on sale in that time).

I always get mixed up with the sales.  This isn't the best sale is it?  They normally have their best one close to christmas?

The removal of daily deals sounds good but I wonder if that means publishers wont discount their games as hard.  e.g. instead of having the sale at 40% off and 60% off for one day, they might do 40-50% off for the duration of the sale.  Or it might not *shrug*

if publishers only do 40%/50% for the sale, some people will buy it and sure pay more than if it was during a flash sale for 75%.  But waaay more people would buy it during a flash sale than hidden away on page 245 of the sale.

so yeah, not impressed.

well the sale is over, I only spent NZD$47 on 3 games.  I hate their new sale format, well its good to save money close to xmas, but meh, just felt like their regular sales (no huge discounts).  I wanted the old prince of persia games, but there were only 50% off and still $12.50 for each of those, even though they are 10 years old.

so yeah, very meh of a sale IMO

I agree, I spent a grand total of $0 this sale - I think it's the first time that I've never bought something in one of their sales.

Like Kathmandu only buy when on sale, now let’s see if anything I brought is in the Humble Bundle December monthly.

never buying that monthly again :P

I'm hoping for a better sale at xmas, I want a steam copy of AC Syndicate (better in big picture mode, uplay launcher can be a PITA with just a controller)

Ha Ha, I only have 4 days to wait to see if it was worth sticking with the Humble Bundle monthly.

I brought GTA 5, interested to see how it plays on A8 7600 with only integrated graphics
