So I plashed out on getting the kids an Xbox One S and a Kinect sensor for Christmas. I also got about 5 games for it. Then we just tried to hook up the Kinect sensor only to find I now need to spend another $75 to get a ficking adapter.

I'm feeling a bit ripped off by EB games that I also needed to get a adapter as-well. Just add 'salt to my wounds' that EB games don't even sell this required adapter.

So my question is, where can I buy one of these 'Microsoft Kinect Adapter for Xbox One S' from? PB tech has 'Out of stock'. I want to get one tomorrow.

JB Hifi have this in stock in Wellington. You could try other locations if you're not in Wellington.

Is there a link to this on the JB HIFi website?

If you chat with Microsoft online you could get one for free. Or if you need it today, JB hi-fi have them (not on the website though)

Looking at the terms and conditions to get a free adapter from Microsoft I have to be a owner of an Xbox one original and then upgrade to Xbox one S to be eligible.

I got one free, u, i just had to make sure i registered all three devices, the orginal xbox one, the new xbox s, and the kinect,  however i see that time may have passed now looking at their website. You could try talking to them, 65 dollars is very steep.

Got the adaptor from jb fihi. So many international power cables. No wonder it cost so much.

For it optimal position I made a custom shelf for the Kinect sensor.

What does the connector do?

Did the pre Xbox One S Xboxes have a special 'Kinect' port or something, that I assumes now not on the new S version?

Will there be a USB Kinect at some stage or are Microsoft Walking away from it?

The new Xbox one S does not have native support for the Xbox one Kinect sensor, hence the reason needing a adapter which converts the Xbox priority connection to a USB3 interface. The Adapter should be compatible with Windows 10 pcs.
