If you press down on the left stick, it stays depressed. It doesn't affect the ability to actually push it down or use it, it just stays recessed deeper in the controller unless you physically pull it up again.

Now that I spotted it with the new Xbox Series X controller, I realise that's how it works on the old Xbox One controller I was using with my PC too. Doesn't happen with the right stick, only the left one.

Since it's the case on both controllers, and they both function just fine, I assume it's a feature not a fault. What's the point though?

EDIT: happens on both sticks, left and right, on both controllers.

None of my xbox controllers do this. If I press down on the left thumbstick, it clicks and returns.

That's what I always thought. After it clicks and returns, try pulling it up, see if you feel any movement until the protective skirting hits the upper panel.

It should return.. if not, it's borked*

If this is an old controller it's an excellent excuse to buy an Elite Controller from Microsoft...

ok yea I see what you mean, I can pull mine up further than where it normally sits. I've never noticed this before, but I don't normally try to pull my thumbstick out of the controller haha

Huh, so it does. I don't think you're 'supposed' to pull it up in the first place though!
