Well im not a W.O.W fan but I did find this interseting article here and wondered if anyone else had heard about it. A teenager aged 15 in sweeden collapsed and died in an eptileptic shock from lack of sleep, lack of food, and prolonged concentration after playing the new WOW game for aproximitly 24 hours, 24 hours after the game was released. Now if a game killing someone is not a record then maybe it is a record for computer games. Anyways I thought I would start of the discussion. Who knows maybe someone will find it intresting. Never though a game could kills someone before and I bet Blizzard did not think so either. Anyways post your comments here if you want to. Smile

It's called natural selection, the loss of people stupid enough to play a game consecutively for enough hours to die only strengthens the gene pool.

This may be a controversial attitude but I think the kid should be taught to take personal responsibility for being a dumbass, rather than laying the blame on a game that 11 million other people play and don't have a problem with.

^Agreed

There is always some people that ruin it for the general crowd, just like the shootings that are blamed on violent games.
People need to learn to take care of themselves.

If you read through the article the link points to the teenager didn't die, he just about died. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Pffffttt..
MMO's in South Korea have been knocking people off left right and centre for years now.

In fact - there's probably some kind of insurance you can get...

OMG like how the hell can someone just sit their for that length of time in front of the computer, not saying i don't and not saying i do but their is that space outside of the cyberworld called well OUTSIDE..

I'm a 27 year old dad with 3 kids ( 2 boys and a girl) and after a hard days work i do like to sit in front of the computer either playing wow or CSS but unlike some i guess i know when enough is enough....

I guess what i'm saying is their is a life away from the computer, you just need to see it...

It's probably worth while remembering that many people suffer from addictive personalities.  No doubt many people game more than they should -but this is just an extreme example.  If it's not gaming, it would probably be something else.  Perhaps something worse, like drug and alcohol abuse.

Oh yer aparently he did not die. Sorry about saying he did. After reading the article for the 1st time I was not shure if he had died or not, so I read some more articles about it. And none of the articles I read meantioned anything about the person after the seizure. So I presumed he had died. But recently I found out that he had not died.

Well I'm glad you read the article and realised he didn't die because you were saying he died and i was like lolwut? but yeah i wasn't shure if he was dead or not i was like 'lol dude are you dead' and he didn't reply probably because i wasn't really with him and i was just sitting in front of the computer reading the geekzone forums. Well I presumed he died. Maybe he lived though? lolnot really shure. if I had to say anything though i would probably say he dead but then again this is a story all about how my life got flipped-turned upside down and I liked to take a minute just sit right there I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air.

Well I guess that blizzard are really lucky that he did not die. Lol if he had died that would have made their game look really bad. Or maybe they wouldn't have been unlucky as the extra publicity might have increased sales. Guess we won't know eh. :D
