I've just got a Wii, and it a fun machine.  Does anyone know if you have to get the official USB WiFi adapter (as I dont have a WiFi router and my computer is in another room) or can I can any WiFi USB dongle that will plug in to my computer and allow me to use my broadband connection with my Wii??

Cheers for any help/advice.

Hi there

You should be able to use any WiFi USB dongle to set up and 'ad-hoc' network that will connect with the Wii. Use WPA-PSK encruyption, set a password and you're away. Windows XP up can do this and I'm sure all others can as well.

If you do want to set up a router they are handy for further expansion for other devices like phones etc and you won't have to leave your PC on to use them.

PS Mario Kart over the internet is fantastic!
