Hey there!

I have a question about the Ps3 regarding its resolution playing bad company2
if i have the res set to 1080p and start the game, does the ps3 automatically scale down to 720p for the game (bad company 2 runs only on 720p) or does it go further down to 576p??
As whenever i do this the quality isnt that great so im guessing its on 576p
so do i need to set the res in the display settings to 720p before i start the game to get the 720p quality?
This really does not bother me much,  but iv had the question asked to me alot of times from my twin brother who thinks im really smart with technology , so i just want to confirm this question.

cheers

Set the resolution to the same as the max resolution of your television.

The Playstation 3 doesn't upscale games (The Xbox 360 does).

If the game you're playing is one of the rare ones that supports 1080P (eg GT5 Prologue) you'll get 1080P, but for almost everything else your PS3 will drop the output down to 720P for the game, and go back to 1080P when you exit.

As long as your TV has a decent scaler you won't notice a difference. If it's rubbish than the 360 has an advantage there.

*edit*  You won't notice the difference than if it was running the game at 720P and scaling it to output at 1080P internally like the 360 does.  You'd notice a huge difference if the game ran at native 1080P.

What are your current PS3 settings? if you have 1080p ticked but not 720p then battlefield will only play at 576. So make sure display settings are set to 720p 1080i and 1080p. Some games need to have 720p unticked to force 1080p if they play at that res.
