Wow that sounds rediculously good. I guess it's just a matter of wait and see? I can't imagine dual graphics cards in a laptop >.<

I can wait, I'm not in any desperate need, but the sooner I can replace my laptop the better, my sister wants a similar laptop for D3, and she has no other means to play, so for her time is more of an issue.

Definitely wait and see how these Trinity laptops work out and how much they cost when they get here.. Its only a matter of weeks before they arrive.

With trinity its an APU not a traditional CPU. The difference is that the cpu has built in graphics (a HD7660), they also put in a HD7670 graphics card then crossfire the graphics card with the onboard graphics, which gives you quite good performance, especially for the price! :)

Ick Pavillion, I think I'd rather not play than play on one of those :) Pay the extra and get anything else :)

Agreed! I hate HP's with a passion, we still get HP's coming in weekly dying from the bad Nvidia chipset from a few years ago.
Luckily they wont be the only one's making trinity laptops! Wink

Actually HP make excellent business notebooks, but in my opinion pretty much all consumer stuff is pretty average and pavilions are near the bottom of the pile. I guess you get what you pay for in most cases, but personally I'd rather pay extra and stay away from Consumer Platform stuff as it has terrible warranty support by comparison

I never really understood peoples dislike of brand X or Y. Surely as long as the core components are good it shouldn't matter too much? I just seem to always find people hating on a brand, regardless of the brand.

Asides from hardware, I guess my only concern is how well it cools, like I don't want it to overheat and be burning my legs or shutting itself down within an hour or something

Rofl: lots and lots of legitimate reasons to dislike a Brand, but unless you have reasonable depth of experience with many brands I think it's unfair to compare. I feel with nearly 20 years experience with MANY brands in my industry, I have the right to draw my own conclusions and make commentary so long as I am prepared to back it up. This is a long way off topic however. Personally I'd always prefer to spend more and get more, and while like most people I'd prefer to spend less, I will spend more if I see the value, and I am fortunate enough to be able to afford to do it.

there are bad laptops from every brand , i was told dont go near the acer brand , absolute rubbish, well i bought one and its still going strong, without problems, for going on 3 years now, my HP pavillion pc is still going strong after 8 years , so i now buy on what is a good price and not worry about brands.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Fair enough, I guess I'm a little in denial cause the top two things that I have my eye on for money and power seem to be HP >.<

Is there a recommended brand in the low price range, or if you're looking for a low-mid range gaming lappy you have no real choice but to spend the big bucks?

vexxxboy: i just got my son a new laptop for $1300 , it has 8GB ram, i7 processor and 2x 1 GB ATI graphic cards and it plays most games on medium settings getting 50-60 fps, so you dont need to spend big money

Wait you have a laptop with dual graphics cards. can you give me the name and model please.

With home laptops, you can good and bad models from most brands (most sub $2000 models being bad!), with business notebooks, HP, Lenovo & Toshiba are the "big 3" with Toshiba generally considered the best.

Agreed about the budget, disagree about Brands.. HP > Toshiba > Lenovo.

So I already acknowledge that I have to settle for sub par laptop for gaming. I'm not wanting cutting edge, just something that won't be whirring at 5 fps for Diablo 3, which supposedly isn't the most demanding game. Not trying to run BF3 or the Witcher 2 or even Skyrim (which I assume is more demanding than d3?)

Is there any reasonable hope >.< or should I just stick with my 5 year old hp and only play on the desktop

I'd play on my desktop, no question. Who wants to play something like Diablo on a tiny little screen like that with a laptop. That's my 2c worth even after I already own a Notebook which is i7, 8gb, 13" screen 1900x1200 :)

Sorry, maybe I should have been clearer.

I already have a good desktop, I need a new laptop for uni cause my one has expired, I was mainly wondering if it was possible to get a desktop that could run d3 for when I'm travelling, at home or someone else is on the desktop. Or is that only possible if you spend > 1.5k?
