homebrand: I would personally go for a "Gigabyte GA-Z87-D3HP LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard" simply because its not as expensive as the other ATX motherboards and it performs just as well, hope this helped ;)

Would this CPU be worthwhile?

Intel Core i5 3330 Gen3 Ivy Bridge 3GHz 6MB Cache LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Processor. It's on special for $200:

I would go for the i5 4670k, or just the i5 4670 (if you want to overclock yourself). Otherwise from the lower end i5's i would suggest the i5 4440 or the i5 4570, would rather go for the 4570. seeing as the cpu is (in my opinion) the most important part of the pc and would spend a little extra for a good cpu. But dont over do it and have everything bad and a great cpu, it will run poorly then, keep everything in moderation
