Finch: Lots of people are saying the driving is bad but I don't think that at all, seems fine to me. What are you comparing the driving to? GTA?

It does seem like a lot of these complaints are coming from people using mouse/keyboard...

If I wanted to use a controller, I'd own a console. I don't.

In actual fact Ubisoft state the game was designed on PC and ported to Console so how they got the mouse acceleration so wrong I don't know. V-Sync settings and setting Max Buffered GPU frames to 1 are next on my to try list.

Obvious console port, It screams that in every way.
Mouse smoothing and acceleration. Poor key mapping.
Graphics i suppose are *cough cough* next generation console spec...

*shrug*

Use whatever you feel happiest with, though "If I wanted to use a controller, I'd own a console." seems like pretty spurious reasoning!

tongue-out

For me, I game on a PC as it provides the widest range of choice as to exactly how I play my games.

IMHO mouse and keyboard are indispensable for FPS/twitch and strategy games. For platforming, 3rd person and driving I find that the digital nature of the keyboard doesn't work as well and a controller does the job better. For flight sims or games of that ilk, I use a joystick...

Anyhow, I can't say I am surprised that the mouse/keyboard is wonky - whatever Ubisoft claim re: "PC being lead platform" they have a track record here - look at AC etc...

Cheers

I just can't stand a controller... nothing is direct or immediate about it. Last console game I played was GTA5 (epic btw!) and trying to drive a car and aim out the window at the same time is damned impossible. Previous GTA's on PC that sort of thing was incredibly easy with K\M.

I get the PC gives you a choice of interface though...

Just because they claim something doesn't make it so...or at the very least, doesn't mean they will be successful in execution...

I think there is always an issue of dilution when the same developer is responsible for the various platforms and as I said above, most have a track record of failing to delivery 100% on the PC port. The problems that a large number of people have been having with uPlay certainly don't inspire confidence that Ubisoft have that much respect for their PC audience.

Yeah fair enough - and thus the beauty of PC gaming is that we can (shoddy implementation and ports aside) all find our personal sweet-spot.

cool

Still sadly waiting on that PC port...

Driving is good on the PS4, though I do have trouble with pedestrians. I am finding the cut scenes annoying and they look like they are doing deliberate digital distortions, though people don't "recall" in digital!

Yup. To be honest I think it would have taken them another 6 months to get all these issues ironed out. They should just reduce the number of cars and people near streets in a patch.

In case you haven't gone through these already - includes an edit to a config .xml file to strip out the worst of the mouse issues.

Agreed. I'm looking forward to their first big patch. Splinter Cell Blacklist was unplayable on PC for the first 2 weeks before they released a 1GB patch... like they re-wrote 25% of the game.

That sounds like an accurate representation of Auckland traffic :-)

Yup, I posted those changes for the mouse acceleration on the first page of this thread. Hasn't fixed the problem for me though. Got other options to try tonight.
