That's a heck of an expensive graphics card, is it necessary? I don't game so no idea. The 1000W PSU seems large, no harm having it. If you're using anything like 1000W you'll probably need a LOT more fans, possible one of those 180mm fans on the top of the case.

Go Back to the GTX970 or move to a GTX980 if you want the best you can afford - the 780Ti is now previous gen architecture, has less RAM, draws more power and is the same price as the 980. In benchmarks & real world it is on a par with the 970 and worse than the 980.

You don't need a 1000W PSU unless you are looking to put multiple, high power draw GPUs in it.

You can comfortably run 2 x GTX 970s or 980swith a good 800W PSU or even less and you are currently only looking at 1.

If you really want to spend all your budget a gain a few extra frames @ 1080p, go with the GTX980. If you want best bang for buck, stick with the GTX970 and if you really need to in a year or two, add a second one.

If you are looking to game @ 4k however, then you will need to consider 2 x GTX980 or more to run modern games at >60FPS

I actually got the GTX 780i, PSU and SSD for a good package deal ( $600 all up) that's why I used those

To add:

A quick and dirty PSU calc here - http://www.extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine suggests that even with 2 x GTX980's in SLi plus your proposed CPU and a bunch of other drives, USB devices, fans etc - 600W of high-quality power with 42A on the 12v rail is sufficient.

A good 750W Corsair should give you all you ever need if you want to SLi with current gen NVIDIA cards and then some. If you don't think you will ever put a second GPU in then even the 600W is overkill.

Ah well that makes a bit more sense!

Sounds like a pretty good deal for $600 but certainly not for the price on your PCPartpicker link!

If it were me, I would still lean to the GTX 970, but then I like to buy newest tech when I upgrade.

For that price though, it seems like a decent option. It wasn't that long ago that the GTX780Ti was NZ$1000 on its own!

Here is what i would change.

RAM, change to minimum DDR3-1600
GFX go for a GTX970
Powersupply is complete overkill for what you are using it for. drop it down to 600-750W unit.
Drop down to H97 Motherboard as these can now do overclocking like the Z Series, even though the CPU you have selected cant be overclocked...
Increase up to 2 or 3TB HDD.
Case is up to you but thats pretty pricey for what you are getting.
The fan you can probably drop out as well since the case comes with 5 Fans already.

you know that motherboard is a dual channel motherboard? so is there any reason why you have a triple channel memory kit in the parts list?

the mother board is also older, i would have gone with the H97 personally

it's my new build so I didn't know. anyway the memory kit will just be reduced to dual channel and the 3rd one will be sold.
