This is what I believe to be the best bang for buck at the $1500ish price point. Cheapest quad-core i5, will perform better in games than the AMD chip, cheaper H81 mobo you won't need z97 since you won't be overclocking a non K cpu anyway. An ssd was thrown in as well as choosing a cheaper case and a much more powerful GPU.
Thanks alot man.

That is a pretty good build!

Personally, I would go for at least an H97 motherboard - about another $50. I just don't like 2 RAM slot motherboards:).

The next step up from that GPU would be a Nvidia GTX970.

With the non-k (locked) core i5's.. There isn't that much difference between them. e.g. a 4430 is pretty much same as 4460.

I would go with the 4430, but it's not on pcpartpicker or in stock at any reputable stores. Also I think 2 RAM slots is fine as long as you're buying a single 8GB stick which will allow room to upgrade to 16GB which should be more than enough.

I always use a Auckland outfit called Computer Lounge. They have an extremely good reputation. If you contact them via email or phone and tell them the purpose and cost they will prepare you a spec.

Also a lot of com puter specs here..

Very nice smile

The video card seems overkill, but it's your money and your build.

Unless you're overclocking you don't need the K processor and the Z97, and if you are you probably want a non-stock CPU cooler. One stick of RAM means no dual-channel but the benefits from that are marginal really and this means it is easy to upgrade to 16GB if you want it alter down the line.

GTX970 is at a great price-performance point right now, though prices here are much more than in the US so I'm not too sure if that holds true here

Looks good.
Always pays to get the best video card you can afford.
