Check what they call perfect pixel. Some allow for a quantity around the edge of the screen and still be "perfect" also if it covers stuck ones only or dead and stuck ones.

I didn't bother with one of the pixel perfect ones and my one had no dead pixels and no noticeable backlight bleed so it's mostly just luck of the draw.

It did stop working recently though, potentially related to a power cut I had, but no idea.

If it has an external powerbrick, try another source of 12v. The one that came with my friends one was a total piece of crap and we replaced it with a less crap ebay one. Was so noisy that it made hooking the PC to a stereo not worth trying.

Yea I didn't have one lying around at the correct amperage so I've ordered one from ebay but it's taking forever to arrive. I opened the monitor up and none of the capacitors seemed to have blown up so I'm gonna try this. It makes a ticking noise when I plug the one that came with it in

Kind of liking something like this, theres a bunch these sorts/brands of monitor on ebay for around this price.
For those of you that have bought these monitors from ebay is tehre something in particular I should be looking for? Asides from pixel perfect options?

Pixel Perfect helps but you can still get panels with a bit of backlight bleed, so be aware you might need to pop it open to sus that out with a bit of tape. As for what to look for? If you want to over clock it (run at frequencies over 60hz) your best bet is to look for a panel that only takes dual-link dvi. The other thing is to go for a matte screen over glossy. By and large the matte units have better panels than the glossy units. Also if you want a bit more detail, over clock.net has some pretty in depth discussion on the different units. Worth a look.

It seems defects in the gloss panels is quite a common reason that the panels get into those monitors. In a dark room with no reflections not an issue, but the banded distorted reflections my friends one has are aweful with things to reflect. Panel itself is fine, just that coating on it. If you are not happy and want to return the shipping back to Korea was going to be about NZ$90 so yeah, bit of a gamble.
