Dairyxox:

Do you think its too much considering 2nd hand 1080ti's are going for 900? Usually they've been mining.

You're at a okay price, they've gone back up to expecting 1kish on trademe. The only way its going to drop again is when the 20xx benchmarks drop and if they do have a performance increase. Or they do a retail price drop, whichever is first to arrive here.

Tzoi:

That's without their sales tax though

This weekend there's a 1070ti for $720 and a 1070 for $585 at Computer Lounge

Can't justify buying an almost 2.5 year old graphics card though

US never applies their tax to outside of state sales, including overseas-bound. Whether they should vs whether they do is another matter. It's only customs NZ you have to worry about.

Frankly, if the 2080 is performance worthy or the DLSS feature is up to scratch, I'll sell my 1070 to friends who are still on low-end and upgrade to that. A lot of people still on 960/970/1050ti thanks to mining shenanigans, I'm thinking the 1060/1070/1080's will be snapped up by people on a budget while the former owners will go for 2070/2080.

People already on a 1080ti shouldn't bother unless they have cash and want to upgrade, in which case their 1080ti will keep their value for a bit.

After the Wayfair case earlier this year, they will be applying state sales tax to out of state sales soonish

If anybody is waiting on second-hands to come down, I'm seeing some 1070's on trademe for $500-550.

Dunno if they'll come down further, but considering this is the price 1060 6GB's were(are?) it's a good chance to get a decent pascal card.

I don't see any drop in GTX 1060 prices. Been waiting for ages to pick one up for my spare PC, but no way I'm spending $530 on an ancient, low-end GPU. This is ridiculous. I know there are some cheaper ones, but I need the Asus blower one. That card is $100 more than it was in 2016, and the overall trend has been a steady increase. Other 1060 models don't seem to be dropping either.

With the cost and specs of the 20 series, there isn't really reason to drop the 10 series prices...

I'm seeing prices of 2nd hand 10-series going back up.

Might be a few months before things settle down into a normal depreciation spiral again.
